Product Development Intern Jobs in Kansas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a product development intern in Kansas?
Becoming a product development intern in Kansas typically starts with enrollment in a relevant undergraduate or graduate program at a Kansas institution such as Kansas State University, the University of Kansas, or Wichita State University, all of which maintain strong ties to regional employers. No state-issued license is required for this role. Competitive candidates build project portfolios, pursue coursework in product design or engineering, and apply directly to internship programs posted by Kansas manufacturers and technology companies during fall and spring recruiting cycles.
Which companies hire product development interns in Kansas?
Employers hiring product development interns in Kansas right now include CVS Health, Walgreens, and Stormont Vail Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Kansas's strong manufacturing and aerospace base means many of these opportunities sit within large, established companies that run structured internship cohorts tied to specific product lines or engineering teams.
Which Kansas cities have the most product development intern jobs?
The Kansas cities with the most product development intern openings are Wichita, Topeka, and Overland Park. Wichita drives much of the volume through its aerospace and advanced manufacturing sectors, while Overland Park and Kansas City attract openings tied to corporate technology, consumer products, and agribusiness innovation companies headquartered in the greater metro area.
Are there remote product development intern jobs in Kansas?
Yes, but they're relatively limited. About 23% of product development intern openings tied to Kansas are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the hands-on, prototyping, and lab-based nature of much of this work. The portions of the role most compatible with remote arrangements tend to be market research, documentation, and product analytics tasks rather than design, testing, or manufacturing support.
How can I get hired as a product development intern in Kansas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to structured internship programs at large Kansas manufacturers and technology companies that recruit students without prior professional experience, relying instead on academic projects and coursework. Garmin and Koch-affiliated companies, for example, accept first- and second-year students for rotational or project-based internships. Building a portfolio of course-based product design or research projects, earning relevant certifications such as Lean or Six Sigma fundamentals, and connecting with career centers at Kansas State University or Wichita State University significantly improves your chances.
Where can I find and apply to product development intern jobs in Kansas?
You can find and apply to product development intern jobs in Kansas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search for roles that match your field of study and experience level, then apply directly to the positions that fit your background.
