Tax Manager Jobs in Los Angeles: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a tax manager job in Los Angeles?
Focus your search on the sectors that drive the most Los Angeles hiring: entertainment and media companies along the Westside, real estate investment firms in Century City and Downtown, and the regional headquarters of financial services and professional services firms concentrated in Woodland Hills and El Segundo. CPA licensure with a public accounting background at a Big Four or mid-market firm gives you a strong edge locally, and experience with California multistate apportionment issues is a consistent differentiator for employers here.
Which companies hire tax managers in Los Angeles?
Companies currently hiring tax managers in Los Angeles include BDO, KPMG, and Weaver, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. The local market draws from a wide base, including entertainment studios, real estate investment trusts, private equity-backed portfolio companies, and the regional offices of national accounting and professional services firms.
Are there remote tax manager jobs in Los Angeles?
Yes, though tax manager roles are only moderately remote-friendly given the frequent need for collaboration with finance teams, auditors, and outside counsel. About 50% of tax manager openings tied to Los Angeles are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with hybrid arrangements most common among corporate in-house positions at larger employers. Tax compliance and planning work is the most portable remotely, while roles requiring close coordination with local real estate or entertainment deal teams tend to remain on-site.
How can I get a tax manager job in Los Angeles with little or no experience?
The most realistic path in Los Angeles is starting as a senior tax associate or tax senior at a mid-market public accounting firm with a strong local presence, then transitioning to an in-house manager role after two to four years. Los Angeles is home to a dense cluster of regional CPA firms that actively develop early-career tax staff, and industries like entertainment and real estate here often promote from within once candidates show familiarity with sector-specific structures such as production company accounting or property depreciation schedules.
Which industries hire the most tax managers in Los Angeles?
Los Angeles tax manager roles concentrate in Accounting & Auditing, Consulting & Professional Services, and Technology & Software, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Los Angeles's outsized entertainment industry, one of the largest real estate markets in the country, and a growing base of private equity and asset management firms create consistent and layered demand for tax professionals across these sectors.
