Tax Senior Associate Jobs in Washington: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a tax senior associate in Washington?
You typically need a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, followed by an active CPA license issued or recognized by the Washington State Board of Accountancy. Washington requires passing the Uniform CPA Examination and meeting the state's education and experience hours before licensure. Most tax senior associate roles also expect a few years of hands-on public accounting or corporate tax experience before the title is granted.
How much do tax senior associates make in Washington?
Tax senior associates in Washington earn a median of about $96,550 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $66,330 for the lowest 10% to over $152,310 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire tax senior associates in Washington?
Employers hiring tax senior associates in Washington right now include Amazon, BDO, and PwC, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Washington's concentration of large technology headquarters and global professional services offices means demand for tax senior associates stays active well outside the traditional busy season.
Which Washington cities have the most tax senior associate jobs?
Seattle, Bellevue, and Kirkland have the most tax senior associate openings in Washington. Seattle and Bellevue drive the largest share of postings because of the dense concentration of multinational technology companies and major public accounting firm offices headquartered or regionally anchored there, while Tacoma draws openings from regional banks, healthcare systems, and mid-market firms serving the South Sound.
Are there remote tax senior associate jobs in Washington?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 40% of tax senior associate openings tied to Washington are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the desk-based and document-driven nature of most tax compliance and advisory work. Federal and state compliance preparation, tax research, and client advisory tasks are the functions most commonly performed fully remotely, while client-facing review meetings and team training tend to retain an in-person component.
How can I get hired as a tax senior associate in Washington with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is landing a tax associate or staff accountant role at a Washington public accounting firm and building toward senior status from within. Large firms with Washington offices, including the Big Four and regional practices like Moss Adams, run structured new-graduate and campus recruiting programs each fall. Candidates who have passed one or more sections of the CPA exam stand out, and Washington's active technology sector means associate roles at corporate tax departments of Bellevue and Seattle-based companies are a strong lateral option for those coming from adjacent finance or audit backgrounds.
Where can I find and apply to tax senior associate jobs in Washington?
You can find and apply to tax senior associate jobs in Washington on Migrate Mate, which lists current Washington openings updated regularly. Find roles that fit your experience and target location, then apply directly to each one without any intermediary step.
