Entry Level Technology Director Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level technology director job?
Focus on building a portfolio that demonstrates technical leadership, even from class projects, internships, or volunteer work. Employers hiring at this level look for candidates who can coordinate cross-functional teams, communicate technical decisions clearly, and show initiative. Certifications in project management or cloud platforms can strengthen your application, and internship experience in a technology-facing role gives you a concrete edge over candidates without it.
Which companies hire entry level technology directors?
Companies hiring entry level technology directors right now include Jobot, Virginia Community College System, and Ivy Tech Community College, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level tends to come from mid-size technology companies, healthcare systems, and growing startups that need early-career leaders who can grow into broader strategy roles.
Are there remote entry level technology director jobs?
Yes, though on-site roles still make up a significant share of openings at this level. About 18% of entry level technology director openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, concentrated in industries where distributed teams are already the norm. Hybrid arrangements are common at employers who want early-career hires close enough for in-person mentorship during onboarding.
Are these new grad technology director jobs?
Yes, many of these listings are new grad and junior roles that welcome candidates with limited professional experience. A new grad-friendly posting typically accepts zero to two years of experience, counts relevant internships toward eligibility, and values a strong portfolio or academic project history. Recent graduates who can show technical leadership in any context, including coursework or personal projects, are competitive applicants.
Which industries hire the most entry level technology directors?
Entry Level technology director roles concentrate in Education, Technology & Software, and Consulting & Professional Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors tend to drive early-career hiring because rapid technology adoption creates demand for junior leaders who can help teams implement and manage new systems from the ground up.
