Therapist Jobs in Indianapolis: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a therapist job in Indianapolis?
Indianapolis hiring for therapists is heaviest in hospital-affiliated outpatient clinics, community mental health centers, and school-based behavioral health programs. The Near Northside and downtown medical corridor hold the densest concentration of openings. Candidates who come in with a specialty in trauma, substance use disorder, or child and adolescent therapy tend to move faster in this market, where those caseloads are consistently high across the city's largest provider networks.
Which companies hire therapists in Indianapolis?
Companies currently hiring therapists in Indianapolis include Community Health Network, Franciscan Health, and Ascension, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Indianapolis employers range from large integrated health systems and federally qualified health centers to private group practices and nonprofit community behavioral health agencies serving the city's diverse neighborhoods.
Are there remote therapist jobs in Indianapolis?
Yes, though remote availability depends heavily on role type. Telehealth-based therapy positions are common, while residential, school-based, and crisis response roles require in-person presence. About 24% of therapist openings tied to Indianapolis are remote or hybrid as of July 2026. Outpatient individual and family therapy positions are the most likely to be listed as fully remote within Indianapolis-based practices.
How can I get a therapist job in Indianapolis with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Indianapolis is through practicum or internship placements at community mental health centers like Midtown Community Mental Health or school-based programs within Indianapolis Public Schools, which routinely convert trainees into associate-level hires. Case manager and behavioral health technician roles at local residential facilities offer a lateral entry point. Bilingual candidates or those with backgrounds in social services have a clear edge in Indianapolis's growing west-side and southeast neighborhoods.
Which industries hire the most therapists in Indianapolis?
Most therapist openings in Indianapolis sit in Healthcare & Medical Services, Non-Profit & Social Services, and Education, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026.
