Focus your search on Cambridge's university-affiliated counseling centers, hospital outpatient clinics, and community mental health organizations, which collectively post the highest volume of therapist openings in the city. Kendall Square and Harvard Square are the densest hiring corridors. Candidates with experience in college student mental health, trauma-informed care, or bilingual clinical services tend to stand out, since those needs are especially acute across Cambridge's research and residential communities.
Which companies hire therapists in Cambridge?

Cambridge's employer mix is notably diverse, ranging from Ivy-affiliated universities and major academic medical centers to smaller outpatient group practices and nonprofit community health agencies serving the city's student and low-income populations.
Are there remote therapist jobs in Cambridge?
Yes, though availability is limited given that most therapist work requires direct clinical contact with clients. About 17% of therapist openings tied to Cambridge are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the growth of telehealth platforms and administrative clinical roles. In Cambridge specifically, remote options are most common in teletherapy-focused group practices and care coordination or clinical supervisor positions that don't require in-person sessions.
How can I get a therapist job in Cambridge with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Cambridge is through supervised practicum or internship placements at university counseling centers or community mental health agencies, several of which convert trainees to paid staff. Look for associate therapist, counseling intern, or mental health case manager titles at Cambridge Health Alliance affiliates and nonprofit behavioral health providers. Fluency in a second language and experience working with college-age or underserved populations are concrete differentiators in this market.
