How do I get a therapist job in Houston?
Focus your search on the Texas Medical Center, Midtown, and the Heights, where the highest concentration of behavioral health, hospital-based, and outpatient employers operates. Houston's large hospital systems, federally qualified health centers, and private group practices hire most consistently. Candidates with experience in trauma-informed care, bilingual Spanish skills, or substance use treatment have a clear edge in Houston's diverse, high-demand market.

Houston's hiring mix runs from large academic medical systems and nonprofit community health organizations to private behavioral health groups and school districts across Harris County.
Are there remote therapist jobs in Houston?
Yes, though therapist roles are largely in-person by nature, with remote work more common in case management, utilization review, and telehealth-specific positions than in direct clinical practice. About 14% of therapist openings tied to Houston are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with telehealth platforms accounting for the largest share of fully remote postings.
How can I get a therapist job in Houston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Houston is through practicum or supervised internship placements at community mental health centers, which frequently convert to paid positions.
