Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as an Assistant Property Manager
Align your credentials to TN categories
Assistant Property Manager roles don't have a dedicated TN visa category. Map your duties to Management Consultant or, if your work involves facilities engineering, to Engineer. Your degree field must match the category you claim on your TN petition.
Request a support letter covering USMCA language
Ask your employer to draft the TN support letter using USMCA occupational category language, not a generic job description. CBP officers look for explicit alignment between your duties, your degree, and the qualifying TN category.
Target property management firms with multi-state portfolios
Regional and national property management companies handle TN sponsorship more routinely than single-building owners. Firms managing commercial, residential, or mixed-use portfolios across multiple states are more likely to have HR teams familiar with USMCA filing requirements.
Search verified TN-sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Filter Assistant Property Manager openings by TN visa sponsorship on Migrate Mate to surface employers who have already committed to the USMCA hiring process, saving you time spent on roles that won't move forward for cross-border candidates.
Prepare for CBP scrutiny on management versus administrative duties
CBP officers distinguish management roles from clerical or administrative ones. Bring documentation showing you supervise staff, manage budgets, or oversee contracts. Lease administration alone without a supervisory component can draw additional questioning at the port of entry.
Understand Mexican citizens must schedule a consular appointment
If you're a Mexican citizen, TN status requires a visa stamp from a U.S. consulate before entry, unlike Canadians who apply directly at the border. Factor consulate wait times into your start date negotiation with the hiring employer.
Assistant Property Manager TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Assistant Property Manager role qualify for a TN visa?
There's no TN category called 'property manager,' so the qualifying path depends on how your duties are structured. Most Assistant Property Manager roles qualify under the Management Consultant category if you hold a relevant bachelor's degree and your work involves advising on operational or financial decisions. Some roles may qualify under Engineer if facilities management is central to the position.
How does the TN visa compare to H-1B for this role?
TN has no lottery and no annual cap for Canadian citizens, so you can start working as soon as your employer's support letter is ready and CBP approves your entry. H-1B visa requires entering a random lottery with roughly a 25% selection rate and a wait of nearly a year before employment can begin. For Assistant Property Manager roles where the specialty occupation argument is already challenging, TN is typically the faster and more reliable path if you're Canadian or Mexican.
What documents does a Canadian citizen need at the border for TN approval?
You'll need your valid Canadian passport, the employer's TN support letter on company letterhead, proof of your qualifying degree, and any professional credentials or licenses relevant to the role. Bring a detailed job description that maps your duties to the USMCA Management Consultant or Engineer category. CBP makes the decision at the port of entry, so completeness matters more than speed.
How do I find Assistant Property Manager jobs where employers will sponsor TN status?
Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically for TN visa sponsorship roles, so you're only applying to employers who have already indicated willingness to support the USMCA hiring process. This avoids the common frustration of reaching the offer stage only to learn the employer doesn't have experience with cross-border filings.
Can I switch employers while on a TN visa as an Assistant Property Manager?
Yes, but your TN status is tied to your current employer. Before your last day, you need a new TN approval tied to the incoming employer. Canadian citizens can get this at a U.S. port of entry with a new support letter from the new employer. Mexican citizens must return to a consulate for a new visa stamp. Working for the new employer before the new TN is approved puts you out of status.
