TN Visa Bookkeeper Jobs
Bookkeeper roles qualify for TN visa sponsorship under USMCA, covering Canadian and Mexican professionals who perform full-charge bookkeeping using accounting software and financial reporting. Canadian citizens can enter the U.S. at the border the same day with employer documentation, making this one of the more accessible TN categories for immediate placement.

Align your credentials to TN requirements
TN visa officers assess whether your academic background directly supports bookkeeping work. A degree or diploma in accounting, finance, or business administration strengthens your case. A professional designation like CPA or CGA adds weight if your degree field is adjacent.
Target employers experienced with visa sponsorship
Search Migrate Mate for employers with recent visa filings in accounting and bookkeeping roles. These employers already understand the visa sponsorship process and are experienced with work visa requirements, making them more likely to consider sponsoring qualified TN candidates. For Canadian applicants, this means the employer can prepare a support letter for presentation at the U.S. port of entry; for Mexican applicants, the employer can support a TN application at a U.S. consulate.
Use Migrate Mate to find TN-ready bookkeeper roles
Search Migrate Mate to filter bookkeeper positions at employers with recent visa filings. It surfaces companies experienced with work visa sponsorship, so you spend time applying where employers have already navigated visa processes, not explaining the visa from scratch.
Prepare a precise employer support letter
Your TN packet rises or falls on the employer letter. It must name the specific bookkeeping duties, confirm the position is full-time and permanent, and state that you hold the credentials required. Vague letters are a common reason CBP officers ask follow-up questions.
Clarify your employment structure before your entry date
TN status requires a direct employer relationship. If a staffing agency or third-party client is involved, confirm who appears on the support letter and pays your wages. USCIS and CBP treat agency arrangements differently, and an unclear chain can complicate your admission.
Plan renewals before your I-94 expiry
TN status is granted in one-year increments and can be renewed indefinitely, but you must act before your I-94 expires. Canadians can renew at a port of entry; Mexicans must attend a consular appointment, so build in lead time for scheduling.
Bookkeeper TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does bookkeeper qualify for TN visa sponsorship?
Yes. Bookkeeper is listed as a qualifying occupation under the USMCA TN visa category. To qualify, you need an offer of employment for a position involving systematic recording, posting, and balancing of financial accounts, along with supporting credentials in accounting, finance, or a related field from an accredited institution.
How does TN compare to H-1B for bookkeeper roles?
TN has no annual lottery and no cap for Canadian citizens, so you can start the process the moment you have an offer. H-1B visa requires surviving a random lottery in April, then waiting until October 1 to begin work. For bookkeepers, TN is a faster and more predictable path, provided your employer is willing to provide the required support documentation.
What documents does a Canadian bookkeeper need for TN entry?
You need your Canadian passport, a signed employer support letter describing your bookkeeping duties and confirming the job is full-time, proof of your academic credentials, and the TN visa fee. Canadians apply directly at a port of entry or preclearance location with no advance petition required, unlike Mexicans who need a consular visa stamp before traveling.
Where can I find bookkeeper jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for TN visa job searches. It filters bookkeeper roles by employers with recent visa filings, so you can focus on companies experienced with work visa sponsorship. Most general job boards don't distinguish between visa categories, which makes it harder to identify employers who have demonstrated sponsorship experience efficiently.
Can a Mexican bookkeeper also use the TN visa?
Yes, Mexican citizens qualify for TN status under USMCA with the same occupational criteria as Canadians. The process is different: Mexicans must apply for a TN visa at a U.S. consulate in Mexico and receive a visa stamp before traveling to the United States. The annual TN allocation for Mexican nationals is capped, so applying early in the fiscal year is advisable.
