Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Buyer
Align your degree to procurement functions
TN eligibility for Buyer roles turns on your credential matching the work. A degree in business administration, supply chain management, or economics strengthens your case. A degree in an unrelated field can trigger denials even with years of purchasing experience.
Target companies with recent visa filings
Employers with recent visa filings for supply chain or procurement roles have demonstrated experience with visa sponsorship processes. Look for companies that have sponsored work visas before—they're typically more familiar with the requirements for supporting international professionals, including those pursuing TN status. These employers often have established HR procedures in place to prepare support letters and guide candidates through the TN application process at ports of entry or consulates.
Search TN-specific roles using Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters Buyer roles by TN visa sponsorship history, so you're not cold-applying to employers unfamiliar with the process. Run your search by industry and location to find procurement teams already set up to bring on TN professionals.
Prepare a support letter before any interview
Your employer's TN support letter must describe your role in terms the CBP officer can match to the USMCA professional list. Draft a template with procurement duties, required qualifications, and your degree field before you start interviewing so the offer process moves without delay.
Distinguish strategic buying from general purchasing
CBP officers scrutinize Buyer petitions closely when duties look clerical rather than professional. Your resume, job offer, and support letter should emphasize vendor analysis, contract negotiation, and category strategy rather than order placement or inventory tracking.
Understand the difference for Mexican nationals at consulates
Mexican citizens apply at a U.S. consulate and face an annual TN allocation, unlike Canadians who present at the border. Scheduling your DS-160 appointment early and having your support letter finalized before booking reduces the risk of delays from rescheduling or documentation gaps.

Find Buyer JobsBuyer TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Buyer role actually qualify for TN visa status?
It depends on how the role is defined. The USMCA professional list does not name 'Buyer' explicitly, but positions requiring analysis of supplier markets, contract terms, and procurement strategy can qualify under the Management Consultant or related categories when tied to a qualifying degree. Roles centered on order entry or inventory replenishment typically do not meet the professional standard CBP applies.
How does TN visa sponsorship for Buyer jobs compare to H-1B?
For Canadian citizens, TN is faster and more predictable than H-1B. There is no annual lottery, no cap, and approval can happen at a port of entry the same day. H-1B requires employer registration, a lottery selection, and months of waiting. The trade-off is that TN status is employer-tied and non-immigrant in intent, so it does not build toward a green card the way H-1B can.
What documents does my employer need to provide for TN sponsorship?
Your employer must produce a support letter on company letterhead that names the position title, describes the professional duties, confirms the start date and terms of employment, and explains how your degree relates to the role. The letter is presented at the border for Canadians or submitted with your consular application as a Mexican national. CBP can deny entry if the letter is vague about procurement responsibilities.
Where can I find Buyer jobs that already offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for TN visa job searches and filters Buyer roles by sponsorship availability. Rather than sorting through general job postings and guessing at employer familiarity with TN status, you can search by role and location to surface procurement positions at companies already prepared to sponsor Canadian and Mexican professionals.
Can I renew TN status if my Buyer role changes significantly?
If your duties shift substantially, your renewal documentation should reflect the updated role accurately. Using the original job description for a materially different position creates inconsistencies that CBP can flag. Your employer should issue a revised support letter describing the current scope of your procurement responsibilities, and you should confirm the new duties still meet the professional standard required for TN classification.
