TN Visa Chief Executive Officer Jobs
Chief Executive Officer roles qualify for TN visa sponsorship under the USMCA's Management Consultant category, but only when the position involves advisory and analytical functions rather than direct operational control. Canadian citizens can apply at the border or a U.S. consulate; Mexican citizens must obtain a TN visa stamp before entry. Classification matters at every stage.

INTRODUCTION
Chef Robotics is accelerating the deployment of intelligent machines in the physical world, starting with food production — the sector facing the largest labor shortage in the U.S., with 1.14M unfilled jobs today and 3.1M projected by 2030. These roles can't be offshored, making robotics essential to keeping production onshore and strengthening America's manufacturing base. Our AI-powered robots automate food prep and assembly in commercial kitchens and food manufacturing, and have already produced over 110 million meals in production — generating the world's largest proprietary dataset for deformable food manipulation. Backed by investors including Kleiner Perkins, Construct, Bloomberg Beta, and Promus Ventures, and built by a team from Cruise, Zoox, Google, Tesla, and Amazon Robotics, Chef is rapidly scaling with multiple multi-year contracts and a mission to put an intelligent robot in every commercial kitchen.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Robots are transforming how the world makes food — and you'll be building the hands that do it. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Chef, you'll design and ship the mechatronic components that power our robotic systems, from clever end effectors to full manipulation systems. You'll own the full development lifecycle: rapid prototyping, lab testing, systems integration, and vendor coordination. If you want your mechanical designs deployed in commercial kitchens across the country, this is your role.
Responsibilities
- Design and build mechatronic components for automated control systems and robotics, with a strong focus on end effectors and manipulation systems
- Drive systems integration — taking individual components all the way to a full, functioning robotic system
- Work hands-on in our lab: prototype fast, test hard, and iterate until it ships
- Partner closely with software, electrical, and industrial design teams to build solutions that are both elegant and production-ready
- Source and coordinate with vendors to identify and procure the right materials for mechatronic system designs
- Build robust testing processes, conduct reliability studies, and evaluate the feasibility, cost, and performance of new mechatronic equipment
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- You've shipped hardware to production — and you know what it really takes
- BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical design or robotics
- Expert-level SolidWorks: CAD, CAM, solid modeling, surface modeling, and sheet metal
- Strong command of fabrication drawings, 2D drawings, and GD&T
- Experience owning the full product cycle — from first concept through production release and redesign
- Deep knowledge of FEA, risk analysis, solid mechanics, and heat and stress transfer simulation
Chef Robotics is solving one of the hardest problems in AI and robotics — and we ship. Our robots are in production today, generating real data that trains the next generation of food AI. Backed by Kleiner Perkins, Construct, Bloomberg Beta, and Promus Ventures, and built by a team from Cruise, Zoox, Google, Tesla, and Amazon Robotics, we're scaling fast with multiple multi-year enterprise contracts. If you want to build physical AI with real-world deployments and real impact, Chef is the place.
We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses. These tools assist our recruitment team but do not replace human judgment. Final hiring decisions are ultimately made by humans. If you would like more information about how your data is processed, please contact us.
Chef is an early-stage startup where equity is a major part of the compensation package. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. In addition to salary and early-stage equity, we offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, commuter benefits, flexible paid time off (PTO), catered lunch, and 401(k) matching.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship in Chief Executive Officer
Frame your executive role as advisory
TN visa classification for CEO-level work hinges on demonstrating management consulting functions, not general executive authority. Your offer letter must specify analytical and advisory responsibilities, not broad operational control, or a CBP officer will likely deny entry.
Obtain a credential evaluation before applying
If your business or management degree was issued by a Canadian or Mexican institution, get a U.S.-equivalent credential evaluation before targeting employers. Some CBP ports and consulates scrutinize non-U.S. graduate credentials for senior roles more closely than entry-level positions.
Target companies with established cross-border operations
Firms with Canadian or Mexican subsidiaries are structurally familiar with TN sponsorship and less likely to withdraw an offer when legal counsel explains the filing process. Boards and HR teams at purely domestic companies often treat TN as an unknown risk.
Negotiate the offer letter before any filing begins
The TN support letter is the core filing document. Negotiate its language before signing your employment agreement. Vague titles like Chief Executive or President without qualifying advisory duties described in writing create classification problems at the border or consulate.
Use Migrate Mate to identify employers already filing TN petitions
Search Migrate Mate to find companies experienced with visa sponsorship in senior roles. Starting your search with employers who have recent visa filings eliminates the barrier of educating an unfamiliar HR team from scratch.
Understand Mexican nationals face a 5,500 annual TN cap
If you hold Mexican citizenship, USCIS caps TN visas at 5,500 per fiscal year. Apply early in the federal fiscal year, which starts October 1, to avoid delays if the allocation runs low before your target start date.
Chief Executive Officer TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Chief Executive Officer title qualify for TN visa sponsorship?
The TN visa does not have a dedicated CEO category. Most successful CEO-level TN petitions are filed under the Management Consultant category, which requires the position to involve providing consulting services rather than exercising broad operational authority. Your offer letter must specifically describe analytical, advisory, and evaluative functions. A generic CEO job description will not satisfy CBP or USCIS reviewers.
How does TN compare to H-1B for a Chief Executive Officer role?
H-1B visa covers CEO and executive roles more cleanly because specialty occupation rules do not require the advisory framing that TN Management Consultant petitions do. However, H-1B involves an annual lottery that TN avoids entirely. For Canadians especially, TN offers faster access with no cap, no waiting period, and no lottery risk. The trade-off is a stricter job description requirement for senior roles.
Can Canadian citizens apply for a CEO TN visa at the border?
Yes. Canadian citizens can present their TN support letter, credential documentation, and a valid passport directly to a CBP officer at a land port of entry or preclearance airport. No visa stamp is required. Approval is adjudicated on the spot, which means a well-prepared support letter is critical. Incomplete or vague documentation is one of the most common reasons for denial at the port.
How can I find Chief Executive Officer jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Canadian and Mexican professionals searching for TN-eligible roles. Filtering by visa type surfaces employers who are already familiar with TN sponsorship requirements, which reduces the risk of having an offer withdrawn after a company's legal team reviews the petition process for the first time.
What documents does the sponsoring employer need to prepare for a CEO TN petition?
The employer provides a signed support letter on company letterhead that describes the position, its advisory and consulting duties, your qualifications, the anticipated duration of employment, and confirmation that the role meets TN Management Consultant criteria. For Mexican nationals filing at a U.S. consulate, USCIS also requires Form I-129 if the petition is filed domestically. The support letter is the document CBP and consular officers scrutinize most.
