TN Visa Clinical Dietitian Jobs
Clinical Dietitian is a TN visa-eligible profession under USMCA, open to Canadian and Mexican nationals with a recognized degree in dietetics and a current state or national credential. Employers in hospitals, long-term care facilities, and outpatient clinics actively offer sponsorship, and the TN has no lottery, making it a faster path to U.S. practice than H-1B.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Clinical Dietitian
Verify your credential meets TN requirements
TN admission for dietitians requires a baccalaureate or licenciatura in dietetics or nutrition. A degree titled 'food science' or 'nutritional sciences' without a clinical dietetics focus can trigger a CBP denial, so confirm your credential maps directly to the listed occupation before applying.
Get your RD or RDN credential active early
Most U.S. hospital employers require a Registered Dietitian credential from the Commission on Dietetic Registration before your start date. Passing the CDR exam before your job search shortens the offer-to-sponsorship timeline and removes a common contingency from employment contracts.
Target employers with clinical nutrition departments
Hospitals, VA facilities, dialysis centers, and large long-term care networks regularly sponsor TN dietitians. Filter your search by facility type rather than geography, academic medical centers and integrated health systems tend to have HR teams already familiar with TN documentation requirements.
Use Migrate Mate to find experienced visa sponsors
Searching for Clinical Dietitian roles without filtering by employer visa experience wastes time. Migrate Mate surfaces positions from employers with recent visa filings, so you're not cold-applying to organizations unfamiliar with sponsoring work visas. These employers have demonstrated experience with visa sponsorship, making them more likely to support your TN application through the straightforward support letter process.
Ask employers about support letter specifics before signing
Your TN application requires an employer support letter that names your job title, duties, educational requirements, and TN category. Confirm the hiring team can produce this letter and that it explicitly references the dietitian occupation, vague letters citing only 'health professional' are a common CBP sticking point.
Understand the Mexican TN cap before you negotiate a start date
Mexican nationals are subject to a 5,500 annual TN allocation, unlike Canadians who receive TN status at the port of entry without a cap. If you're Mexican, file through USCIS with Form I-129 and build at least 90 days into your offer timeline to account for processing.

Find Clinical Dietitian JobsClinical Dietitian TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Clinical Dietitian qualify for TN visa status?
Yes. Dietitian or Nutritionist is an explicitly listed occupation in the USMCA TN schedule. You need a baccalaureate or licenciatura degree in dietetics or a closely related nutrition field. A general degree in food science or biology without a clinical dietetics focus may not satisfy CBP, so your credential title and transcript matter.
How does the TN visa compare to H-1B for Clinical Dietitian roles?
The TN is faster and more predictable for dietitians than H-1B. There is no annual lottery, no cap for Canadians, and Canadians can receive TN status at a port of entry the same day. H-1B requires an April lottery, a cap-subject petition, and a minimum six-month wait before the October 1 start date. For most dietitians, TN is the practical first choice.
Do I need a state license to get TN status as a dietitian?
CBP does not require a state dietitian license as a condition of TN admission, but most U.S. employers do. Around 30 states have mandatory licensure for practicing dietitians. If your target state requires a license, your employer may make the offer contingent on licensure, so apply for state licensure in parallel with your job search.
Where can I find Clinical Dietitian jobs with TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It lists Clinical Dietitian positions from employers offering TN visa sponsorship, filtering out roles where the employer has no familiarity with the process. Searching a general job board and then cold-asking about TN sponsorship is far less efficient and often leads to dead ends with HR teams unfamiliar with USMCA categories.
Can a Mexican dietitian use the TN visa, and is the process different?
Yes, Mexican nationals qualify for TN status as dietitians under USMCA, but the process differs from Canada. Mexicans must file Form I-129 with USCIS and pay the associated petition fees, rather than applying at a port of entry. The 5,500 annual TN cap for Mexican nationals means filing early in the fiscal year reduces any allocation risk. Budget at least 90 days between offer acceptance and your intended start date.
