Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Construction Administrator
Align your credentials to Engineer category
TN status for Construction Administrators is approved under the Engineer occupational category. Your degree must be in civil, structural, or architectural engineering, not just construction management, or CBP officers may question your eligibility at the border.
Target firms with active federal contracts
General contractors and construction management firms holding federal or state public-works contracts are accustomed to TN sponsorship paperwork. Their HR and legal teams already understand prevailing wage documentation and are less likely to withdraw an offer over visa complexity.
Request a support letter covering your specific duties
Your employer's TN support letter must describe your actual construction administration duties, not just your job title. Emphasize document control, RFI management, and construction compliance oversight so the letter maps directly to the Engineer category definition.
Search for TN-ready employers using Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Construction Administrator openings by employers with recent visa filings and sponsorship experience. Targeting companies experienced with work visa sponsorship cuts the time spent educating hiring managers about the TN process from scratch.
Prepare for CBP review as a Canadian applicant
Canadian citizens can obtain TN status directly at a land port of entry or airport without a prior visa appointment. Bring your degree transcripts, the employer support letter, and your signed offer letter, since CBP officers review all three on the spot.
Plan your Mexican consular appointment around project start dates
Mexican citizens must schedule a consular interview, which adds processing time between offer acceptance and your U.S. start date. Build at least six to eight weeks of lead time into your offer negotiation so your employer can plan project staffing around your arrival.

Find Construction Administrator JobsConstruction Administrator TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Construction Administrator role qualify for TN visa status?
Yes, but the classification depends on your specific duties and degree. CBP approves Construction Administrator positions under the Engineer category when your work involves technical oversight of construction compliance, coordination of design documentation, and field verification against engineering drawings. A general construction management degree without an engineering foundation may face additional scrutiny at the port of entry.
How does TN visa sponsorship compare to H-1B for Construction Administrator roles?
TN has no annual lottery and no cap for Canadian citizens, so you can start work as soon as CBP approves your application at the border. H-1B requires entering a randomized lottery in April with an October start date at the earliest. For Construction Administrators with a qualifying engineering degree, TN is a faster and more predictable path that does not tie your authorization to a lottery outcome.
What documents does my employer need to provide for TN sponsorship?
Your employer must provide a signed support letter on company letterhead that describes your job title, your specific duties, your start date, your compensation structure, and the basis for classifying the role under the Engineer TN category. The letter requires no government filing or pre-approval—CBP officers at the port of entry will review it on the spot. Make sure it's detailed enough to demonstrate that your role qualifies for TN status under NAFTA/USMCA requirements.
How can I find Construction Administrator jobs that include TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you filter job listings specifically by TN visa sponsorship, so you can focus on employers who have already committed to supporting the process. Searching through a platform built around visa sponsorship status saves you from applying broadly and then discovering late in the interview process that the employer is unwilling to provide a TN support letter.
Can I switch Construction Administrator employers while on TN status?
Yes, but your TN authorization is tied to the specific employer named in your approval. You must obtain new TN status before starting work with a different employer. Canadian citizens can do this at a port of entry with a new support letter from the incoming employer. Mexican citizens need to complete consular processing again. Build enough transition time into your departure timeline to avoid any gap in authorized employment.
