TN Visa Dietitian Jobs
Dietitian roles qualify for TN visa sponsorship under USMCA, making this one of the cleaner paths for Canadian and Mexican nutrition professionals to work in the U.S. Your degree must be in dietetics, foods and nutrition, or a related field, and many employers already know the TN category well enough to file without outside counsel.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Dietitian
Verify your credential meets TN requirements
The TN category requires a baccalaureate or licenciatura degree in dietetics, foods and nutrition, or a related clinical nutrition field. A general biology or food science degree alone won't satisfy the requirement, so confirm your credential maps directly before applying.
Target hospitals and outpatient clinical settings
Healthcare systems, renal dialysis centers, and long-term care facilities hire dietitians at volume and are accustomed to TN sponsorship paperwork. These employers are far more likely to have HR processes in place than a small private wellness clinic.
Address Canadian versus Mexican processing differences early
Canadian citizens can apply for TN status directly at a U.S. port of entry with no advance petition. Mexican nationals must obtain a TN visa stamp at a U.S. consulate before entering, so factor in consular appointment wait times when negotiating your start date.
Search for open roles using Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters job listings by TN visa sponsorship availability, so you can find Dietitian openings where employers have already confirmed they'll support the filing rather than spending time vetting roles that won't work for your status.
Confirm your state dietitian license before your start date
Most states require a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist credential and an active state license before you can practice. CBP officers can and do ask for evidence of licensure eligibility at the border, so have your CDR registration and any pending state license documentation ready.
Get the employer support letter right on the first draft
The TN support letter must specify your job duties, your degree, and the professional capacity in which you'll work. A vague or generic letter is one of the most common reasons CBP officers ask follow-up questions, so push your employer to be precise about clinical versus administrative functions.

Find Dietitian JobsDietitian TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Dietitian role qualify for TN visa sponsorship?
Yes. Dietitian is a named occupation on the USMCA TN professional list. To qualify, you need a baccalaureate or licenciatura degree in dietetics, foods and nutrition, or a closely related field, and your job duties must align with clinical or counseling nutrition practice. General wellness or health coaching roles without a clear dietetics scope may not satisfy CBP.
How does TN visa sponsorship compare to H-1B for Dietitian positions?
TN has no annual cap and no lottery, so there's no waiting for a selection cycle. H-1B petitions require USCIS adjudication and can take months, while Canadian citizens can receive TN status at the port of entry the same day. Mexican nationals still need a consular appointment, but approval timelines are generally faster than H-1B processing. TN status must also be renewed each time you change employers.
What documents does a Dietitian need for TN processing?
You'll need an employer support letter that describes your specific job duties, your degree transcripts, your CDR Registered Dietitian Nutritionist certificate, and any required state dietitian license or proof of licensure eligibility. Canadian citizens present these at a U.S. port of entry. Mexican nationals submit them as part of a DS-160 application and attend a consular interview.
How can I find Dietitian jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lists Dietitian roles specifically filtered by TN visa sponsorship, so you're not cold-applying to employers who've never handled the process. Healthcare systems, hospital networks, and outpatient clinical groups are the most common sponsors and appear frequently in those results.
Can I switch Dietitian employers while on TN status?
You can change employers, but TN status is employer-specific. You can't start working for a new employer on your existing TN. Canadians can apply at a port of entry for a new TN with the new employer's support letter before or on their last day. Mexican nationals need a new TN visa stamp from a U.S. consulate, so plan the transition timeline accordingly to avoid a gap in work authorization.
