TN Visa Nursing Assistant Jobs
Nursing Assistant roles qualify for TN visa sponsorship under USMCA for Canadian and Mexican professionals with relevant credentials. Employers filing a TN petition need to document your role's direct patient care duties and your certified nursing training. No lottery, no annual cap for Canadians, and Mexicans have a limited allocation.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Nursing Assistant
Verify your CNA credential transfers cleanly
Your provincial or Mexican nursing assistant certificate must align with the U.S. state's CNA registry requirements. Some states require a competency exam before recognizing foreign credentials, so confirm reciprocity before applying to roles in a specific state.
Target employers experienced with visa sponsorship
Large hospital networks, long-term care chains, and skilled nursing facilities often have experience with visa sponsorship. Prioritize employers with recent work visa filings, since they're already familiar with sponsorship processes and can navigate the requirements for direct patient care roles. For TN status, your employer will prepare a support letter outlining your qualifications and role, which you'll present at the U.S. port of entry (or U.S. consulate if you're Mexican). Employers experienced with visa sponsorship are typically better equipped to handle this straightforward process.
Search TN-sponsored Nursing Assistant jobs on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Nursing Assistant openings by TN visa sponsorship availability. This saves you from applying to roles where the employer has no TN filing experience or is unwilling to sponsor international candidates.
Clarify the specialty occupation framing upfront
Not every Nursing Assistant posting is written to support a TN petition. Ask hiring managers early whether the role description references theoretical and practical application of specialized knowledge, since that framing is required for TN approval.
Get your support letter specifics right before the border
Canadian citizens typically apply at the port of entry, so your employer's TN support letter must specify your job title, duties, CNA credential, and intended start date. Vague letters are the most common reason for CBP delays or refusals.

Find Nursing Assistant JobsNursing Assistant TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Nursing Assistant role actually qualify for TN visa status?
Yes, but the job description must position the role within a recognized professional category under USMCA. The employer's support letter needs to frame the position as requiring specialized nursing training and direct application of theoretical knowledge. Generic CNA postings that describe purely task-based duties can face scrutiny at adjudication, so your offer letter language matters.
How does the TN visa compare to H-1B for Nursing Assistant positions?
The TN visa has no annual lottery, no cap for Canadian citizens, and can be obtained at the port of entry for Canadians within the same day. H-1B requires employer sponsorship months in advance, entry into a randomized lottery, and USCIS petition approval. For Nursing Assistants who meet TN criteria, TN is faster to obtain and simpler to renew, with no limit on the number of renewals.
How can I find Nursing Assistant employers who will sponsor a TN visa?
Migrate Mate lets you filter job listings specifically by TN visa sponsorship, so you only see Nursing Assistant roles from employers already familiar with the process. This is more efficient than applying broadly and discovering late in the hiring process that an employer won't support international candidates.
What documents do I need to bring if I'm a Canadian applying at the port of entry?
You'll need your valid Canadian passport, the employer's TN support letter, proof of your CNA certification or equivalent credential, educational transcripts or diploma, and a copy of your job offer. CBP officers review these on the spot, so bring originals and at least one copy of each document. Incomplete packages are the leading cause of same-day refusals.
Can I switch Nursing Assistant employers while on TN status?
Yes, but your TN status is tied to your current employer. Canadians need to obtain a new TN approval at the port of entry or through USCIS before starting with a new employer. Mexican nationals must file a new USCIS petition. Working for the new employer before receiving approval is a status violation, so plan the transition timeline carefully with your new employer before giving notice.
