TN Visa Registered Behavior Technician Jobs
Registered Behavior Technician roles qualify for TN visa sponsorship under the USMCA's Psychology category when the position requires direct application of behavioral science principles under licensed supervision. Canadian professionals present their employer's support letter at the U.S. border with no cap; Mexican nationals apply through a U.S. consulate with their employer's support letter. Sponsorship begins once the employer completes the support letter and the applicant is ready to proceed.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Registered Behavior Technician
Verify your RBT credential meets TN criteria
The TN Psychology category requires applying behavioral science, not just holding an RBT certification. Confirm your role description references behavioral analysis principles explicitly, since a generic paraprofessional framing can trigger a border denial.
Target ABA clinics with existing TN history
Search for Applied Behavior Analysis employers who have previously sponsored TN workers. Employers already familiar with the Psychology category classification move faster and rarely question whether RBT roles qualify.
Request a support letter detailing supervision structure
Canadian professionals entering at the port of entry need a detailed employer letter. Ask your hiring manager to specify the licensed BCBA or psychologist supervising you, since unsupervised RBT roles raise TN eligibility concerns at the border.
Use Migrate Mate to filter sponsorship-ready RBT employers
Not every ABA clinic will handle TN paperwork. Migrate Mate surfaces RBT job listings from employers who have confirmed sponsorship capacity, so you spend time on roles that will actually move forward.
Clarify Mexican nationals need consular processing
Unlike Canadians, Mexican nationals cannot enter at the border and must schedule a TN visa interview at a U.S. consulate. Build at least four to six weeks into your timeline before your target start date.
Get employer support letter ready before offer deadline
Your employer prepares a support letter documenting your job qualifications and role details. For Canadians, you present this letter at the U.S. port of entry; for Mexicans, your employer submits it with your consulate application. Negotiate your offer acceptance contingent on receiving the completed support letter, not just verbal confirmation, to ensure smooth processing.

Find Registered Behavior Technician JobsRegistered Behavior Technician TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an RBT role actually qualify for the TN visa?
Yes, but the job description must frame the role within the TN Psychology category, which covers professionals applying behavioral science principles in practice. A posting that describes the position as general support work without referencing behavioral analysis can be denied. Ask your employer to revise the duties description before you file or present at the border.
How does TN compare to H-1B for Registered Behavior Technicians?
TN has no lottery and no annual cap for Canadians, so you're not competing for a slot the way H-1B applicants are. Canadians can activate TN status at a port of entry the same day an employer approves the offer. H-1B requires USCIS petition processing and a lottery selection that limits most RBT professionals to a single annual opportunity.
Where can I find RBT jobs that include TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for TN visa job seekers and filters listings by sponsorship availability. Most general job boards don't distinguish between employers willing to handle TN paperwork and those who aren't, which means you'll spend time on roles that stall at the offer stage. Starting with a sponsorship-focused search saves significant time.
Can I switch RBT employers after starting on a TN visa?
Yes, but your TN status is employer-specific. You need a new TN authorization tied to the new employer before you begin work there. Canadians can do this at the border with a new employer support letter; Mexican nationals must return to the consulate. Don't give notice at your current employer until the new TN authorization is confirmed.
What documents does an RBT employer need to sponsor my TN visa?
Your employer prepares a support letter detailing your job title, duties tied to behavioral science, your supervising licensed professional, your compensation, and the intended period of employment. You bring that support letter, your credential documentation, and proof of Canadian or Mexican citizenship to your port of entry (if Canadian) or U.S. consulate appointment (if Mexican). There is no government filing requirement—the support letter is your primary documentation for TN visa approval.
