Match your degree field to ecommerce job descriptions
TN eligibility for ecommerce roles depends on your degree aligning with the position, not just the job title. A marketing or information systems degree supporting a digital merchandising role is a stronger match than a general business degree for a performance analyst position.
Build a TN support letter before applying
Ask potential employers to draft a support letter confirming your role qualifies as a specialty occupation under USMCA. Many ecommerce companies are unfamiliar with TN requirements, so arriving with a template saves time and signals you know the process.
Filter employers by H-1B filing history as a proxy
Ecommerce companies that have filed H-1B petitions have existing immigration infrastructure and legal counsel familiar with work visa sponsorship. These employers are more likely to sponsor TN status without needing to build internal processes from scratch.
Verify your employer is E-Verify enrolled before accepting
E-Verify enrollment is required for federal contractors and some state-mandated employers. Confirming enrollment before you accept an ecommerce offer prevents onboarding delays, since TN holders must complete Form I-9 on or before their start date.
Use Migrate Mate to find ecommerce roles with TN sponsorship
Sorting through postings without knowing which employers will sponsor wastes weeks of your search. Migrate Mate filters ecommerce jobs by verified sponsorship history so you spend time on employers already prepared to support TN applications.
Prepare for port-of-entry adjudication with role documentation
Canadian professionals can obtain TN status directly at a U.S. land border or airport without a visa stamp. Bring your offer letter, degree transcripts, and a clear description of your ecommerce duties so the CBP officer can adjudicate on the spot.

Find Ecommerce JobsEcommerce TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Do ecommerce roles actually qualify for TN visa sponsorship?
Ecommerce positions can qualify under TN categories including Computer Systems Analyst, Management Consultant, or Economist, depending on your specific duties and degree. The key is that your degree field must relate directly to the role. A digital merchandising manager with an information systems or marketing degree has a defensible TN case. A generalist operations role with an unrelated degree is harder to support.
How does the TN visa compare to H-1B for ecommerce professionals?
The TN visa has no annual lottery and no cap for Canadians, which means you can pursue ecommerce roles year-round without waiting for a selection date. H-1B registration opens once a year in March, and approval is not guaranteed. TN status for Canadians is also adjudicated at the port of entry the same day, while H-1B petitions take months to process. Mexican nationals face a separate TN annual allocation, so timing matters more for them.
Can I switch ecommerce employers while on a TN visa?
Yes, but you need a new TN approval tied to the new employer before your first day. TN status is employer-specific, so your authorization from your previous employer ends when that role ends. Canadian professionals can obtain the new TN at a port of entry with an offer letter and role documentation. Plan this transition carefully to avoid a gap in authorized status.
Where can I find ecommerce companies that already sponsor TN visas?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It surfaces ecommerce jobs from employers with verified sponsorship history, so you can focus your applications on companies already equipped to handle TN filings rather than educating employers on the process during your interview.
Does my employer need to file anything with USCIS for my TN visa?
For Canadian professionals, USCIS is not involved. The TN is adjudicated by CBP at the port of entry using documents you and your employer prepare. Mexican nationals must obtain a TN visa stamp at a U.S. consulate, which involves a DS-160 and consular appointment but still does not require a USCIS petition. The employer's primary responsibility is providing an accurate offer letter and support documentation.
