Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as an Engineering Supervisor
Verify your engineering degree aligns
Your degree must be in an engineering discipline, not engineering technology or a related field. CBP officers at the border have denied TN entries when the degree title doesn't clearly match the engineering category, even for experienced supervisors.
Target employers with recent visa filings
Look for companies with recent visa filings for engineering roles. A history of sponsoring work visas signals the employer understands visa sponsorship processes and has experience supporting international talent.
Separate supervisory duties in your offer letter
TN classification for Engineering Supervisor depends on showing the role is a specialty occupation requiring engineering expertise, not just managerial authority. Ask your employer to list specific engineering responsibilities alongside the supervisory scope in the offer letter.
Start Migrate Mate's filing process before your start date
TN visas bypass the formal filing process entirely. For Canadians, your employer writes a support letter that you present at the U.S. port of entry; for Mexicans, your employer submits the letter to a U.S. consulate as part of your visa application. Use Migrate Mate to identify employers experienced with visa sponsorship, then coordinate your documentation timeline with them so everything is ready before your start date.
Prepare for Canadian border TN entry correctly
Canadian citizens can request TN status directly at a U.S. port of entry. Bring your signed offer letter, engineering degree credential, and resume. CBP officers make the decision on the spot, so gaps in documentation cause same-day denials.
Account for the Mexican consular appointment timeline
Mexican nationals must attend a consular interview in Mexico before entering on TN status. Factor in current wait times at the nearest U.S. consulate when negotiating your start date with the employer, as delays of several weeks are common.

Find Engineering Supervisor JobsEngineering Supervisor TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Engineering Supervisor role qualify for TN visa sponsorship?
Yes, Engineering Supervisor qualifies under the USMCA's Engineer category, provided the role requires applying engineering principles and your degree is in a recognized engineering discipline. Roles where the position is primarily managerial with only incidental engineering involvement can face scrutiny from CBP, so the job duties in your offer letter need to reflect active engineering work alongside the supervisory responsibilities.
How does TN visa sponsorship compare to H-1B for Engineering Supervisor positions?
TN has no annual cap and no lottery, so you're not waiting on a random selection process that rejects two out of three qualified applicants. Canadians can get TN status at the border the same day with a complete package. H-1B requires petitioning months in advance and surviving the lottery. For Engineering Supervisor roles that clearly fit the USMCA Engineer category, TN is faster and more predictable.
What documents does my employer need to provide for a TN filing?
Your employer needs to provide a signed offer letter describing the Engineering Supervisor role, your engineering responsibilities, the duration of employment, and your qualifications. For Canadian citizens applying at a U.S. port of entry, present this support letter along with your documentation to the immigration officer. For Mexican citizens, your employer's support letter is submitted as part of your application at a U.S. consulate. In both cases, the offer letter and your professional credentials are the key documents needed to demonstrate TN eligibility.
Where can I find Engineering Supervisor jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Canadian and Mexican professionals searching for roles with TN visa sponsorship. Rather than filtering through general job boards where sponsorship status is often unclear or outdated, Migrate Mate surfaces Engineering Supervisor positions from employers with documented sponsorship history, so you can focus on applications that are actually viable for your immigration status.
Can I renew my TN visa if I stay in the same Engineering Supervisor role?
Yes, TN status is granted in up to three-year increments and can be renewed indefinitely as long as you maintain a qualifying job offer and continue to meet the USMCA Engineer category requirements. There's no limit on the number of renewals. For Canadian citizens, you'll present updated documentation at the U.S. port of entry; for Mexican citizens, your employer will file a new application at a U.S. consulate. Starting that process at least 90 days before your current status expires is standard practice.
