Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as an Event Coordinator
Align your degree to the role
TN visa classification for Event Coordinators typically relies on the Management Consultant category, which requires a degree in business, hospitality, or a related field. A mismatch between your credential and the job description is the most common denial trigger.
Target employers experienced with visa sponsorship
Search for employers with recent visa filings in management consulting or event planning roles. These employers have demonstrated experience with visa sponsorship and are more likely to be receptive to supporting your TN application. Focus on companies with an established track record of sponsoring work visa positions, as they'll be familiar with the documentation requirements and support letter process involved in TN sponsorship.
Get your credential evaluation done early
If your hospitality or business degree is from a Mexican or Canadian institution, have it evaluated by a NACES-approved evaluator before applying. U.S. hiring managers and CBP officers both need to confirm your credential meets the specialty occupation threshold.
Clarify the TN support letter requirements before accepting
Ask the employer to confirm they'll prepare a support letter documenting your job offer and qualifications before your port of entry appointment. Without this letter, you won't be able to present a complete application to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (or the U.S. consulate if you're Mexican), and some employers don't realize this step falls on them, not you.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsoring employers
Searching for Event Coordinator roles with confirmed TN sponsorship is harder than it sounds. Migrate Mate filters specifically for employers open to TN candidates, so you're not wasting applications on companies that won't sponsor.
Prepare a TN support letter from your employer
Canadian citizens applying at the port of entry need a detailed employer support letter describing the role, the specialty occupation basis, and your qualifications. CBP officers use this letter to adjudicate on the spot, so vague language about your duties will slow or block approval.
Event Coordinator TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Event Coordinator role actually qualify for a TN visa?
It depends on how the role is structured. Event Coordinator positions qualify under the TN Management Consultant category when the job requires a bachelor's degree in business, hospitality management, or a closely related field and involves professional-level advisory or planning functions. Roles that are primarily logistical or administrative, without a degree requirement, are unlikely to qualify. The job offer letter and your credentials both need to support the specialty occupation classification.
How does TN compare to H-1B for Event Coordinator roles?
TN is almost always faster and more predictable for Canadian and Mexican professionals than H-1B visa. There's no annual lottery for Canadians, no cap to worry about, and no multi-month wait for a filing window. Canadians can receive TN approval at the port of entry the same day. H-1B selection is random and capped at 85,000 per year, so many qualified applicants never get a slot. For Event Coordinator roles that meet the TN specialty occupation threshold, TN is the more reliable path.
What documentation do I need as a Canadian applying for a TN at the border?
You'll need your valid Canadian passport, a detailed employer support letter that describes the Event Coordinator role and its degree requirement, and proof of your qualifying degree. CBP adjudicates TN applications in person at the port of entry, so bringing organized, complete documentation matters. Missing or vague paperwork is the most common reason Canadians are turned away or deferred.
Can I use Migrate Mate to find Event Coordinator jobs with TN sponsorship?
Yes. Migrate Mate is built specifically for Canadian and Mexican professionals looking for roles with confirmed TN visa sponsorship. Rather than applying broadly and asking each employer about their willingness to sponsor, you can search for Event Coordinator positions where TN sponsorship is already part of the offer. That saves time and avoids the frustration of reaching late-stage interviews only to learn the employer won't support a TN filing.
How long does TN status last and can I renew it for Event Coordinator work?
TN status is granted in three-year increments with no statutory limit on renewals, as long as you maintain a valid employer relationship and the role continues to qualify as a specialty occupation. When your role or employer changes, you'll need a new TN filing before you start. There's no grace period for TN workers between employers the way there is under some other visa categories, so timing your transition carefully with your employer is essential.
