Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Field Sales Representative
Verify your degree supports the classification
TN approval for sales roles hinges on your bachelor's degree matching the advisory or analytical nature of the job. A degree in business, marketing, or economics strengthens the case. A general sales background without a related degree creates real risk at the border.
Request a duties letter before accepting
Ask your employer to draft a TN support letter before you sign an offer. The letter must frame your role around analysis, client strategy, or market development, not order-taking. Vague language like 'sells products' has caused denials at ports of entry.
Target employers with USMCA filing experience
Prioritize companies with recent visa sponsorship experience. Review employers who have filed H-1B, E-3, or green card petitions for management consultants or similar roles in your target industry and region—this demonstrates their familiarity with visa sponsorship processes and willingness to support qualified candidates.
Find TN-ready sales roles through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to search Field Sales Representative jobs with active TN visa sponsorship. The platform filters roles by visa category and employer filing history, so you're targeting companies already set up to sponsor your status.
Prepare for Canadian border vs. consular differences
As a Canadian, you can apply for TN status directly at a U.S. port of entry with your offer letter, degree credentials, and a filing fee. Mexican citizens must schedule a consular appointment and receive the visa stamp before traveling, which adds lead time to your start date.
Understand how renewals affect long-term placement
TN status is granted in up to three-year increments with no limit on renewals, but each renewal requires your employer to reaffirm the same qualifying role and duties. If your title or responsibilities shift significantly, the renewal filing needs to reflect that accurately to avoid USCIS scrutiny.

Find Field Sales Representative JobsField Sales Representative TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Field Sales Representative role actually qualify for a TN visa?
It depends on how the role is structured. The TN visa does not have a dedicated sales category. Most Field Sales Representative positions qualify under the Management Consultant category, but only when the job involves analytical, advisory, or strategic functions and requires a bachelor's degree in a related field. Purely transactional or quota-driven roles without those elements are harder to support.
How does the TN visa compare to H-1B for this role?
The TN visa has no annual lottery, no cap for Canadians, and can be processed at a port of entry in a single day for Canadian citizens. H-1B selection is lottery-based and limited to 85,000 slots per fiscal year. For Field Sales Representatives who are Canadian or Mexican citizens and meet the degree and duties requirements, TN is a faster and more predictable path than H-1B.
Where can I find Field Sales Representative jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It surfaces Field Sales Representative roles where employers have active TN visa sponsorship history, so you're not cold-applying to companies unfamiliar with the process. Filtering by visa category upfront saves time and reduces rejections from employers who won't support TN status.
What documents do I need my employer to provide for TN approval?
Your employer must provide a signed support letter on company letterhead that describes your job title, duties, your qualifications, the business purpose for hiring you, and your anticipated length of employment. The letter should explicitly frame your responsibilities in terms that align with a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree. Canadian citizens present this at the border alongside degree credentials.
Can I switch employers while on TN status as a Field Sales Representative?
Yes, but you cannot start working for a new employer until your new TN status is approved. Canadian citizens can apply at a port of entry for a new employer. Mexican citizens must apply at a U.S. consulate. You do not carry your existing TN status to a new employer automatically, so coordinate your start date carefully with the filing timeline.
