Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Marketing Assistant
Frame your credentials around specialty occupation
TN visa approval for a Marketing Assistant depends on the role being scoped to a qualifying USMCA category. Get a credential evaluation confirming your degree aligns with marketing research, communications, or management consulting functions before you apply.
Target employers with recent visa filings
Employers with recent visa filings for marketing roles have already navigated the work visa sponsorship process. Searching for companies experienced with visa sponsorship helps you identify employers more likely to move forward confidently during the sponsorship conversation.
Ask how the role is classified before accepting
Some employers list Marketing Assistant titles but classify the work under a non-qualifying USMCA category at filing. Confirm in writing how the employer intends to categorize the role before you give notice to your current employer.
Search verified sponsoring employers through Migrate Mate
Finding companies open to TN sponsorship for marketing roles takes more than keyword searches. Migrate Mate filters employers by TN visa history and role type, so you're applying to companies already set up to sponsor.
Prepare your support letter before the offer stage
Canadian citizens presenting at a port of entry need an employer support letter describing the specialty occupation duties, your qualifications, and the temporary nature of the role. Drafting a template before you have an offer speeds up the final filing window.
Understand Mexican citizens face a fixed annual cap
Mexico's TN allocation is capped at 5,500 per year across all qualifying occupations. If you're a Mexican citizen, apply early in the fiscal year and confirm your employer's timeline aligns with consular appointment availability at your local U.S. embassy.
Marketing Assistant TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Marketing Assistant role actually qualify for TN visa status?
It depends on how the position is structured. TN visa categories don't include a generic marketing title, but Marketing Assistants whose work falls under market research, scientific technician support, or management consulting functions can qualify. The employer's support letter must describe duties that map to a recognized USMCA professional category, not just list the job title.
How does the TN visa compare to H-1B for Marketing Assistant positions?
TN has no lottery, no annual cap for Canadians, and no I-129 petition filing period to wait through. H-1B visa requires registration, lottery selection, and a cap-subject start date of October 1. For Marketing Assistants who qualify under USMCA categories, TN is faster and more predictable. The trade-off is that TN doesn't allow dual intent, so long-term permanent residency planning requires a separate strategy.
How can I find Marketing Assistant jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Most employers don't advertise TN sponsorship explicitly because they confuse it with H-1B. Migrate Mate is built specifically for this gap: it surfaces employers with a verified history of sponsoring Canadian and Mexican professionals, filtered by role type. That means you're not cold-applying to companies that will decline sponsorship once they learn it's involved.
What documents do Canadian citizens need to present at the border for TN status as a Marketing Assistant?
You'll need a valid Canadian passport, an employer support letter that describes the specialty occupation duties and your qualifications, proof of your degree or credentials, and your job offer or employment contract. CBP officers adjudicate TN requests at the port of entry, so the support letter's language about occupational category is the most critical document to get right before you travel.
Can a Mexican citizen apply for TN status for a Marketing Assistant role, and what is the process?
Yes, Mexican citizens can apply for TN status, but the process goes through a U.S. consulate rather than a port of entry. You'll schedule a nonimmigrant visa interview, submit a DS-160, and present the same employer documentation as a Canadian applicant. Mexico's annual TN allocation is capped at 5,500 across all categories, so applying early in the U.S. fiscal year reduces the risk of cap exhaustion affecting your timeline.
