Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Finance Director
Frame your credentials around TN-qualifying categories
Finance Director roles don't map to a single TN category. Structure your resume and credentials around accountant or economist functions, because CBP officers evaluate job duties, not job titles, at the border.
Target employers with multilateral treasury operations
Companies with cross-border cash management, transfer pricing, or USMCA supply chain exposure have built-in reasons to sponsor TN professionals and are already familiar with the cross-border compliance demands you bring.
Secure your degree equivalency documentation early
If your finance or accounting degree is from a Canadian or Mexican institution, get a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved evaluator before negotiations conclude. CBP can deny entry without clear U.S. equivalency for the qualifying TN category.
Negotiate the support letter scope before signing
Your TN support letter must specify your accountant or economist duties, not just your title. Ask HR to confirm the letter addresses your functional role. A vague letter citing only 'Finance Director' gives CBP insufficient basis to approve entry.
Search TN-sponsored Finance Director roles through Migrate Mate
Filter by TN visa sponsorship and Finance Director to find employers already structured for cross-border hires. Migrate Mate surfaces roles where TN eligibility is confirmed, cutting out the guesswork of cold outreach.

Find Finance Director JobsFinance Director TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Finance Director title qualify directly for a TN visa?
Not automatically. TN eligibility depends on job duties, not the title. Finance Director roles typically qualify under the accountant or economist TN category if the position requires and primarily involves functions within that professional scope. CBP will review your support letter and degree to confirm the duties match a recognized TN occupation, so your documentation needs to make that connection explicit.
How does TN compare to H-1B for Finance Director roles?
TN has no annual lottery and no cap for Canadian citizens, meaning you can obtain status as soon as you have a qualifying job offer and the right documentation. H-1B registration opens once a year and selection is randomized. For Finance Director candidates who qualify under the accountant or economist TN category, TN is typically faster and more predictable, though it requires maintaining nonimmigrant intent and cannot be self-extended without employer involvement.
Where can I find Finance Director jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Canadian and Mexican professionals seeking TN-sponsored roles in the U.S. You can filter by job title and visa type to find Finance Director positions where employers have already structured the offer for TN eligibility, rather than spending time on applications that won't lead to sponsorship.
Can a Finance Director on TN status change employers mid-year?
Yes, but your TN authorization is tied to your current employer. You'll need new TN documentation from the incoming employer before or at the time of your start date. Canadians can obtain new TN admission at a port of entry. Mexican citizens will generally need to return to a U.S. consulate or have the employer file an I-129 change of status petition with USCIS before the transition.
What documentation does a Finance Director need to support a TN application?
You'll need a detailed employer support letter specifying the TN category, your duties, the employment term, and your qualifications. You'll also need your original degree certificates and transcripts confirming your field of study aligns with the accountant or economist category. If your degree is from a Canadian or Mexican institution, a credential evaluation letter from a recognized evaluator strengthens the application. CBP or the consular officer will review all of these together.
