Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship in Global Director
Document your cross-border leadership scope
TN visa adjudicators scrutinize whether a Global Director role requires professional-level expertise, not just seniority. Gather project records, org charts, and board-level deliverables that prove the position demands specialized knowledge, not general management.
Match your credentials to a recognized USMCA category
Global Director titles don't map automatically to a TN occupation. Work with your employer to anchor the role under Management Consultant or Engineer based on your actual duties, because the job title alone won't satisfy CBP.
Search for employers with recent visa filing history
Use Migrate Mate to filter Global Director openings by employers with recent visa filings, so you're targeting companies experienced with the visa sponsorship process for professional roles.
Pressure-test the offer letter before CBP review
Canadian TN applicants are adjudicated at the port of entry on the spot. Your offer letter must specify the USMCA occupation category, your degree field, and the temporary nature of the role, or CBP can deny entry without appeal.
Prepare for Mexican consular processing timelines
Mexican nationals obtain TN status through a U.S. consulate appointment, which adds weeks to your start date. Confirm your employer's hiring timeline accounts for consular scheduling before accepting an offer with a fixed start date.
Renew proactively to protect director-level continuity
TN status lasts three years and is renewable, but gaps in authorization can disrupt executive contracts and equity vesting schedules. File your renewal at least 90 days before expiration to maintain continuous status.
Global Director TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Global Director role qualify for TN visa sponsorship?
It depends on how the position is structured and which USMCA occupation category it maps to. A Global Director overseeing strategy or cross-functional operations can qualify under categories like Management Consultant, but the role's actual duties must require a relevant bachelor's degree or higher. Titles alone don't determine eligibility. CBP reviews the offer letter and credentials at the port of entry for Canadian citizens, or at a U.S. consulate for Mexican nationals.
How does TN visa sponsorship compare to H-1B for Global Director positions?
TN visa sponsorship avoids the H-1B visa annual lottery entirely, which means Canadian citizens can get TN status the same day at a port of entry and Mexican nationals through a consulate appointment, with no wait for a lottery result. H-1B has an 85,000-slot annual cap and a randomized selection process. For a Global Director with Canadian or Mexican citizenship, TN is typically faster and more predictable, though it requires the role to fit a defined USMCA occupation.
What documents does your employer need to sponsor you for a TN visa as a Global Director?
Your employer must provide a detailed offer letter naming the USMCA occupation category, your professional credentials, the temporary duration of employment, and your specific duties. The employer's support letter demonstrates your eligibility under TN requirements. You bring the offer letter and your degree credentials to the CBP port of entry as a Canadian, or to your consular appointment as a Mexican national.
Where can I find Global Director jobs with confirmed TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Canadian and Mexican professionals searching for roles at employers experienced with visa sponsorship. Instead of filtering through job postings that don't address visa status, Migrate Mate surfaces Global Director openings from employers with recent visa filings, saving you the step of vetting each company individually.
Can a Global Director on a TN visa change employers mid-role?
Yes, but TN status is tied to a specific employer, so you need new TN authorization before starting with a different company. As a Canadian citizen, you can obtain the new TN at a port of entry with an updated offer letter. Mexican nationals return to a consulate. There's no grace period between employers, so timing the transition to avoid a gap in status is essential for executive-level roles with notice periods and equity considerations.
