Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Head Of People Operations
Align your credentials to TN requirements
The TN Management Consultant category requires a baccalaureate or licenciatura degree. Confirm your HR, business, or organizational psychology degree maps directly to the people operations scope described in your offer letter before applying.
Target employers with structured HR infrastructure
Mid-size and enterprise companies with dedicated legal or HR compliance teams process TN petitions faster and with fewer delays. Prioritize employers who already distinguish between HR generalist and strategic people operations functions in their org charts.
Search for roles using TN-specific job filters
Use Migrate Mate to filter Head of People Operations openings by TN visa sponsorship availability, so you're only engaging employers who have already committed to supporting your status.
Negotiate the offer letter before signing
Your offer letter is a CBP document, not just an employment contract. It must specify that your role involves management consulting in a professional capacity. Vague titles like 'People Lead' without strategic scope language have caused TN denials at the port of entry.
Prepare for Canadian border vs. consular entry differences
Canadian citizens apply for TN status directly at a U.S. port of entry with no advance petition filing. Mexican citizens must obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate first. Your preparation timeline and document set differ significantly based on your citizenship.
Renew proactively to avoid status gaps
TN status is granted in three-year increments with no cap on renewals. File your renewal or extension at least 90 days before your current status expires, especially if your employer is mid-hiring cycle and your role scope has evolved.

Find Head Of People Operations JobsHead Of People Operations TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Head of People Operations role qualify for TN visa status?
Yes, if your role involves organizational consulting, HR strategy, or workforce planning at a professional level, it can qualify under the TN Management Consultant category. The critical factor is that your offer letter clearly describes strategic consulting activities tied to a qualifying baccalaureate or licenciatura degree in a relevant field like business, HR, or organizational development.
How does TN visa sponsorship compare to H-1B for this role?
The TN visa has no annual lottery and no cap for Canadians, so you can start working as soon as CBP approves your application at the port of entry. H-1B requires winning a lottery with roughly 20 to 25 percent selection odds, then waiting until October 1 to begin work. For qualified Canadian and Mexican professionals, TN is a significantly more reliable path to U.S. employment in people operations roles.
What documents do I need for a TN application in this role?
You need a valid passport, a detailed offer letter from your U.S. employer specifying your consulting duties and the professional nature of the role, proof of your qualifying degree, and the USCIS Form I-129 if your employer files a petition rather than you applying at the border. Canadian citizens typically present these directly to CBP without an advance petition.
How do I find Head of People Operations jobs that sponsor TN visas?
Most general job boards don't filter by TN visa sponsorship, which means you spend time applying to roles where the employer won't support your status. Migrate Mate is built specifically for Canadian and Mexican professionals on TN visas, letting you search for Head of People Operations openings where sponsorship is already confirmed before you apply.
Can I switch employers while on TN status in a people operations role?
Yes, but you must secure a new TN approval before or at the time you begin working for the new employer. Canadian citizens can apply at a port of entry when changing jobs. Your previous TN is employer-specific and does not transfer. Starting work before the new TN is approved creates a status violation, so time your transition carefully around your application.
