Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Hospitality
Verify your role qualifies as specialty occupation
TN visa eligibility in hospitality hinges on whether your specific role requires a bachelor's degree in a related field. Front-of-house or general service positions typically don't qualify, but hotel operations management or food and beverage director roles often do.
Assemble credential documentation before applying
Canadian applicants don't need a visa stamp but must present proof of qualifications at the port of entry. Have your degree transcripts, professional certifications, and a detailed job offer letter ready before you travel to the U.S. border.
Target hotel groups with dedicated HR infrastructure
Large hotel management companies process TN sponsorship more smoothly than independent properties because their HR teams understand the filing requirements. Focus your search on multi-property operators where TN support is already part of their hiring workflow.
Request your employer's support letter before you accept the offer
Your employer must prepare a support letter outlining your role, qualifications, and eligibility under TN requirements before your port of entry appointment or consulate application. Confirm this documentation is ready early so your visa processing isn't delayed by incomplete paperwork on your start date.
Use Migrate Mate to find experienced visa sponsors
Identifying hospitality employers experienced with visa sponsorship increases your chances of success. Migrate Mate surfaces these employers by role type and location—companies with recent visa filings who understand the sponsorship process and have the infrastructure in place to support it.
Prepare for Mexican applicants' consular interview requirements
Unlike Canadians who enter at the border, Mexican nationals must apply for a TN visa stamp at a U.S. consulate. Book your appointment well in advance and bring your employer's support letter, your degree credentials, and documentation of your job offer to the interview.

Find Hospitality JobsHospitality TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Which hospitality roles qualify for TN visa sponsorship?
TN visa eligibility in hospitality is narrow. Hotel general managers, food and beverage directors, and operations managers with relevant bachelor's degrees in hospitality management, business administration, or a related field typically qualify. Roles like front desk agent, server, or housekeeping supervisor generally don't meet the specialty occupation standard because they don't require a specific bachelor's degree to perform the work.
How does TN compare to H-1B for hospitality professionals?
TN is significantly more accessible for hospitality management roles. There's no annual lottery, no cap for Canadian citizens, and Canadians can be approved at the port of entry the same day. H-1B requires employer sponsorship months in advance, a lottery selection, and USCIS petition approval. For a Canadian hotel operations director with a qualifying degree and a U.S. job offer, TN is the faster and more predictable path.
Can I switch hospitality employers on a TN visa?
Yes, but you can't simply transfer your TN to a new employer. Each employer change requires a new TN filing. Canadian citizens can present new documentation at a port of entry and receive approval that day, while Mexican nationals must schedule a new consular appointment. Your previous TN status doesn't carry over, so coordinate your start date carefully to avoid gaps.
How do I find hospitality employers who sponsor TN visas?
Most hospitality employers aren't advertising TN sponsorship, so identifying the right targets takes research. Migrate Mate helps you find employers in hotel management, food service, and tourism who have a history of supporting TN visas. Filtering by role and location lets you focus your applications on companies where the TN pathway is already understood and supported.
Does my hospitality degree from Canada or Mexico meet TN requirements?
USCIS and CBP both accept foreign degrees for TN purposes, provided the degree is in a field directly related to the role. A Canadian or Mexican hospitality management degree from an accredited institution is generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's degree. If your degree is in a different field, you'll need to demonstrate that the coursework directly relates to the position being offered.
