Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Mobile Developer
Align your credentials to TN job requirements
Your degree field must map to software or computer science, not just any STEM discipline. A degree in information systems or computer engineering supports your TN visa classification more cleanly than a general technology degree when demonstrating professional qualification to a U.S. immigration officer at the port of entry.
Target companies with recent visa filings
Employers experienced with visa sponsorship already have internal processes for work visa support and offer letter language. Prioritize organizations in fintech, healthtech, and enterprise software, where mobile development is a core function, not a support role.
Request a TN-compliant offer letter early
Your offer letter must specify the role as Computer Systems Analyst, describe duties that require theoretical and practical application of specialized knowledge, and include your anticipated start date. Vague job descriptions are the leading cause of TN denials at the port of entry.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsoring employers
Search Migrate Mate to identify Mobile Developer roles where employers have recent visa filings and experience with work visa sponsorship. This narrows your search to companies familiar with the visa sponsorship process and prepared to provide the employer support letter you'll need for your TN application at the port of entry or consulate.
Prepare platform-specific documentation for your specialty
If your work focuses on iOS or Android specifically, bring portfolio evidence and prior employer letters that confirm your specialization. CBP officers may ask how your role differs from a general software developer, so your documentation should answer that clearly.
Understand Mexican citizen consular processing timelines
Unlike Canadian citizens, Mexican nationals must schedule a consular interview at a U.S. embassy or consulate rather than presenting at the border. Factor in appointment availability, which can run several weeks, when negotiating your start date with the employer.
Mobile Developer TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Mobile Developer role qualify for TN visa sponsorship?
Mobile Developer positions qualify under the Computer Systems Analyst TN category when the role requires theoretical and practical application of highly specialized knowledge in software development. Your job duties must go beyond general coding tasks. Roles focused on architecture, SDK integration, or platform-specific frameworks typically meet this standard, while broad junior developer positions may face more scrutiny at the port of entry or consulate.
How does the TN visa compare to H-1B for Mobile Developer roles?
TN visa sponsorship is significantly more accessible for Mobile Developers than H-1B visa. There is no annual lottery, no cap for Canadian citizens, and your employer can often complete the process in days rather than months. H-1B requires USCIS petition approval and is subject to an annual cap with a random selection process. If you are Canadian or Mexican and your role qualifies, TN is the faster path into a U.S. position.
What documentation does my employer need to sponsor my TN visa?
Your employer must prepare a support letter that specifies your title as Mobile Developer, describes your specialized duties, states your work location, and confirms your intended duration of employment. If you are Canadian, you bring these documents to the port of entry when you arrive in the U.S. If you are Mexican, you submit these documents as part of your application at a U.S. consulate.
How can I find Mobile Developer jobs with TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lists Mobile Developer roles from employers with recent visa filings, so you are not spending time on positions where the hiring team has never navigated the sponsorship process. Filtering by TN-eligible roles in Migrate Mate surfaces companies in software, fintech, and enterprise technology that understand work visa requirements and can prepare the support letter your employer needs to present at the port of entry or consulate.
Can I switch Mobile Developer employers while on TN status?
Yes, but your TN status is employer-specific. You cannot simply transfer it. Your new employer must provide a support letter documenting your role, qualifications, and job duties. Canadian citizens can then present this letter at the port of entry to request new TN status, while Mexican citizens must apply at a U.S. consulate. Plan your transition timeline to avoid any gap in authorized work status.
