Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Project Development Manager
Align your credentials to TN categories
Project Development Manager roles don't map to a single TN category. If your work is primarily analytical and advisory, Management Consultant fits. If it's engineering-driven, an Engineer classification may apply. Your degree field and job duties together determine which category USCIS will accept.
Request a duty-specific offer letter
A generic offer letter listing your title is rarely enough for TN adjudication. Ask your employer to describe your daily responsibilities in terms that mirror the official occupational definition for whichever TN category you're applying under.
Target employers with active project portfolios
Construction firms, infrastructure developers, renewable energy companies, and EPC contractors regularly sponsor project development roles and understand multi-phase permitting timelines. These employers are already familiar with the staffing complexity that makes TN sponsorship a practical choice.
Search TN-eligible roles at visa-experienced employers
Use Migrate Mate to filter Project Development Manager openings by employers with recent visa filings, indicating they're experienced with visa sponsorship processes. This helps you focus on companies that have demonstrated capacity to support work visa candidates, saving time on applications to employers unfamiliar with sponsorship. For TN visa applicants, this is valuable since companies with sponsorship experience are more likely to prepare the required support letter and understand the streamlined application process at the port of entry (for Canadians) or U.S. consulate (for Mexicans).
Prepare for Canadian port-of-entry filing
Canadian citizens can obtain TN status at the border the same day as a job offer. Bring your signed offer letter, degree transcripts, and a professional resume. CBP officers at major land crossings and airports adjudicate TN petitions on the spot, so document completeness matters more than lead time.
Understand the Mexican consular appointment process
Mexican citizens must schedule a nonimmigrant visa interview through the U.S. embassy or consulate system rather than applying at the border. Consular wait times vary by location, so confirm your appointment window before accepting an employer start date.

Find Project Development Manager JobsProject Development Manager TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Project Development Manager role qualify for TN visa status?
Yes, but the qualifying category depends on how your employer defines the role. If your duties are primarily consultative and analytical, the Management Consultant category typically applies. If the role involves engineering design, feasibility, or technical oversight, an Engineer classification may be more appropriate. Your degree field and a detailed offer letter together determine which category CBP or the consulate will approve.
How does TN visa sponsorship compare to H-1B for Project Development Manager roles?
TN is faster and more predictable for this role. There's no annual lottery, no cap for Canadian citizens, and Canadian applicants can receive TN status at the border on the day they present their documents. H-1B requires entering the lottery in March for an October start date. For employers who need a Project Development Manager to start within weeks, TN sponsorship is the more practical path.
What documents does my employer need to provide for TN sponsorship?
Your employer needs to provide a signed offer letter that specifies your job title, your TN occupational category, your anticipated start date, and a description of your day-to-day duties tied to that category. For Canadian citizens applying at the port of entry, this letter is the primary document CBP reviews. There's no separate USCIS petition filing required for Canadians.
Where can I find Project Development Manager jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Canadian and Mexican professionals searching for roles with confirmed TN visa sponsorship. Rather than filtering through generic job postings and then asking each company whether they sponsor, you can search roles on Migrate Mate where sponsorship is already part of the job offer, saving time at one of the most uncertain stages of the process.
Can a Mexican citizen on TN status apply for a green card later?
TN status is a nonimmigrant classification and does not allow dual intent the way an H-1B does. Pursuing permanent residence while on TN can create issues if a consular officer concludes you intend to immigrate. Mexican citizens in Project Development Manager roles who want to pursue a green card should discuss the timing and sequencing of that process with a qualified immigration attorney before taking action.
