Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Project Program Manager
Frame your credentials around Management Consultant criteria
TN visa approval for Project Program Managers depends on mapping your role to the Management Consultant category. Gather a bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a related field and document how your work involves systematic analysis and advisory deliverables, not just task coordination.
Target employers with active federal contracts
Companies holding federal or state government contracts often sponsor work visas for program managers because project documentation requirements align with USMCA visa specialty occupation criteria. Look for employers with recent visa filings in your discipline—those with demonstrated sponsorship experience are more likely to support qualified candidates through the TN application process.
Negotiate a detailed offer letter before crossing the border
Canadian applicants often process TN status at a port of entry, so your offer letter does the work a petition normally would. It must name the position, describe the managerial methodology involved, state the degree requirement, and confirm a fixed end date for the initial status period.
Use Migrate Mate to find employers already sponsoring TN roles
Searching broadly wastes time on employers unfamiliar with visa sponsorship. Migrate Mate surfaces Project Program Manager roles where employers have recent visa filings, letting you prioritize outreach to hiring managers who understand the sponsorship process and can quickly prepare your support letter for TN status.
Prepare a scope-of-work memo for complex program structures
If your program manager title spans multiple business units or matrixed teams, CBP officers may question whether the role is executive rather than consultative. A one-page scope-of-work memo distinguishing your advisory and analytical outputs from direct supervisory authority significantly reduces that challenge risk.
Target employers with recent visa filing experience
Mexican citizens cannot use port-of-entry processing, so your employer must prepare a support letter and you'll apply at a U.S. consulate. Confirm your employer understands the TN application process and that your consulate appointment is scheduled to proceed smoothly without timing gaps.

Find Project Program Manager JobsProject Program Manager TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Project Program Manager role qualify for a TN visa?
Yes, but qualification depends on how the role is structured. TN visa approval for Project Program Managers is granted under the Management Consultant category, which requires the position to involve systematic analysis, recommendations, and defined project methodologies. Roles focused primarily on administrative oversight or staffing coordination, without an analytical or advisory component, face higher scrutiny at the port of entry or consulate.
How does TN visa sponsorship for this role compare to H-1B?
TN sponsorship is generally faster and more predictable for Project Program Managers than H-1B. There is no lottery, no cap for Canadian citizens, and Canadian nationals can receive TN status at a U.S. port of entry the same day. H-1B requires annual lottery selection, a months-long USCIS adjudication, and employer-paid filing fees that are substantially higher. The trade-off is that TN does not lead directly to a green card the way H-1B can.
What documentation does my employer need to provide for TN sponsorship?
Your employer must provide a signed offer letter that describes the role in terms aligned with the Management Consultant category: the analytical or advisory nature of the work, the degree required, the project scope, and the duration of employment. For Mexican nationals, your employer submits the offer letter and supporting documentation to the U.S. consulate as part of your TN visa application. Canadian nationals typically present these documents directly at the port of entry without a prior government filing.
How can I find Project Program Manager jobs where employers already understand TN sponsorship?
Most general job postings do not specify TN visa familiarity, which means applicants often spend interview cycles educating hiring managers. Migrate Mate is built specifically to surface roles at employers with recent visa filings, so your search focuses on companies that have already navigated work visa sponsorship and are prepared to support it again.
Can I switch employers after receiving TN status as a Project Program Manager?
Yes, but TN status is employer-specific. If you change jobs, your new employer must establish a new TN authorization before you begin work. Canadian citizens can do this at a port of entry with a new offer letter. Mexican citizens must complete a new consular appointment. There is no USCIS portability provision for TN the way AC21 works for H-1B holders, so timing the transition carefully is essential to avoid a gap in work authorization.
