Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Senior Android Developer
Frame your degree for the TN category
TN visa eligibility as a Computer Systems Analyst requires a degree directly related to Android development. A computer science or software engineering degree maps cleanly. An unrelated degree with compensating experience rarely satisfies the requirement, so confirm the match before applying.
Target employers with recent visa filing experience
Prioritize companies with recent visa filings for tech roles. Those employers understand work visa sponsorship and won't delay your hiring process by learning sponsorship procedures for the first time.
Get the job title and SOC code confirmed in writing
Ask hiring managers to confirm your offered title aligns with the Computer Systems Analyst SOC code before the offer letter is finalized. A mismatch between your role description and the TN category is the most common filing error for Android developers.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsoring employers fast
Search Migrate Mate to identify employers actively sponsoring TN and H-1B visa roles for software professionals. Filtering by visa type and role saves weeks of manually screening job postings that won't support international candidates.
Prepare your credentials package before the offer stage
Gather your degree transcripts, credential evaluations if your degree is from a non-U.S. institution, and a detailed offer letter before negotiating your start date. Canadian citizens presenting at the port of entry need all documents ready the day they cross.
Understand the Mexican consular timeline when planning your start
Mexican nationals must schedule a consular interview at a U.S. embassy rather than self-petitioning at the border. Build at least four to six weeks into your start date negotiation to account for appointment availability and document review.
Senior Android Developer TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Senior Android Developer role qualify for TN visa sponsorship?
Yes, provided the position is structured to fall under the Computer Systems Analyst TN category and requires a bachelor's degree in a related field such as computer science or software engineering. The job duties must center on systems analysis, design, and development rather than general IT support. Your employer's offer letter needs to reflect that alignment clearly.
How does the TN visa compare to H-1B for Senior Android Developer roles?
The TN visa has no annual lottery and no cap for Canadian citizens, so you can start working as soon as your employer prepares a support letter and you present it at the U.S. port of entry. H-1B requires entering an annual lottery with limited slots. For Canadian Android developers with a qualifying degree and a U.S. job offer, TN is typically faster and more predictable.
Can I switch Android Developer jobs while on TN status?
Yes, but TN status is employer-specific. If you change employers, your new employer must provide a support letter and you'll need a new TN approval before starting work. Canadian nationals can present this at a U.S. port of entry. Mexican nationals must apply at a U.S. consulate. Don't resign your current role until the new TN is approved.
Where can I find Senior Android Developer jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Canadian and Mexican professionals seeking roles with TN and H-1B sponsorship. You can search by job title and visa type to surface employers who have actively sponsored international candidates, which removes the guesswork of cold-applying to postings that won't support your status.
What documents does my employer need to support my TN application as an Android developer?
Your employer must provide a detailed offer letter specifying your job title, duties, required qualifications, and employment period. They'll also prepare a support letter documenting your role and eligibility. You supply your degree transcripts and, if your credential is from outside the U.S. or Canada, a credential evaluation from a recognized evaluation service. For Canadians, you present these documents at the U.S. port of entry; for Mexicans, at a U.S. consulate during your visa interview.
