Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Strategy
Frame your credentials around Management Consultant
TN visa sponsorship for Strategy roles routes through the Management Consultant category. Your degree and work history must demonstrate advisory, analytical, or planning functions, not operational or administrative ones. A mismatch here triggers denial at the port of entry.
Target employers with structured strategy functions
Companies with dedicated strategy teams, internal consulting groups, or corporate development divisions sponsor TN visas more readily than those where strategy is a diffuse responsibility. Look for job postings that list formal reporting lines to a Chief Strategy Officer or equivalent.
Negotiate the offer letter before it is drafted
Your TN support letter must state that you are performing consulting, not permanent employment functions. Ask your future employer to describe your role in project-based or advisory language before HR finalizes the offer. A poorly worded letter is the most common reason Strategy TN applications stall.
Search TN-specific job listings on Migrate Mate
General job boards don't filter by visa category or sponsorship history. Migrate Mate lets you search Strategy roles by TN eligibility so you reach employers already set up to file. Use it before spending time on outreach to companies unfamiliar with the USMCA process.
Prepare for Canadian port-of-entry adjudication
Canadian citizens present their TN application directly to CBP at a land border or airport preclearance. Bring your degree transcripts, the employer support letter, and your resume. CBP officers adjudicate on the spot, so your documents must stand alone without follow-up from your employer.
Align your degree field with the role description
CBP expects a direct connection between your academic background and the Strategy work you will perform. A business, economics, or finance degree supports most Strategy TN filings. If your degree is in an unrelated field, supplement with a credential evaluation and a detailed employer letter explaining the connection.

Find Strategy JobsStrategy TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Strategy job title qualify for a TN visa?
Job titles alone don't determine TN eligibility. What matters is whether your duties fit the Management Consultant category defined under USMCA. Strategy roles focused on analyzing business problems, developing recommendations, and advising leadership typically qualify. Roles that are primarily operational or involve managing permanent staff functions generally don't meet the standard CBP applies at adjudication.
How does TN compare to H-1B for Strategy professionals?
TN has no annual lottery, no cap for Canadians, and can be obtained in days rather than months. H-1B requires employer sponsorship through a competitive lottery, a USCIS petition, and months of processing. For Canadian Strategy professionals, TN is often faster and more predictable. Mexican nationals face a TN cap and consular processing, which closes some of that gap but still avoids the H-1B lottery entirely.
Can I find Strategy employers who already sponsor TN visas?
Yes. Migrate Mate filters Strategy job listings by TN visa sponsorship so you can focus on employers who understand the USMCA filing process. Approaching employers already familiar with TN documentation requirements significantly reduces the time between offer and start date, since they won't need to research the process from scratch or engage immigration counsel for the first time.
What documents does my employer need to provide for my TN application?
Your employer must provide a signed support letter on company letterhead that describes your role, confirms it is temporary and project-based, states your qualifications, and specifies your compensation and duration of employment. CBP will read this letter closely. Vague language about 'providing strategic input' without specifying deliverables or engagement scope has caused denials for otherwise qualified Strategy professionals.
How long does TN visa status last for a Strategy role, and can it be renewed?
TN status is granted in increments of up to three years. There is no statutory limit on the number of renewals, so you can maintain TN status indefinitely as long as you hold a qualifying Strategy role with a sponsoring employer. Canadians can renew at a port of entry. Mexican nationals must return to a U.S. consulate in Mexico for each renewal cycle.
