Frame your credentials around consulting deliverables
TN adjudicators approve the role, not just your degree. Document your work in terms of discrete client engagements, recommendations delivered, and measurable outcomes so your resume and support letter align with USCIS's Management Consultant definition.
Confirm the role classification before applying
Not every employer labels consulting work correctly. Ask hiring managers whether the position involves providing expert advice to organizations, not just internal project management, since CBP officers distinguish between the two at the border.
Search for TN-ready openings using Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters Strategy Consultant jobs by TN visa sponsorship history, so you're targeting employers already familiar with the Management Consultant category rather than educating HR from scratch during offer negotiations.
Prepare a USMCA-compliant employer support letter
Your employer's TN letter must specify your consulting activities, the professional capacity you're filling, and your intended duration. Generic offer letters fail CBP review. Work with your employer's legal team to match language to the USMCA's Management Consultant criteria.
Target consulting firms with cross-border staffing experience
Firms that regularly place Canadian and Mexican professionals understand that TN status requires a qualifying role, not just a qualifying degree. Their HR teams can draft compliant support letters and move from offer to approval faster than employers new to the process.
Plan your Mexican TN timeline around consulate scheduling
Mexican citizens must attend a U.S. consulate interview, which can add several weeks to your start date. Factor this into your offer negotiation and request a start date that gives you enough runway after scheduling opens.

Find Strategy Consultant JobsStrategy Consultant TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Strategy Consultant role qualify for TN visa status?
Yes, Strategy Consultant work typically falls under the USMCA's Management Consultant category, which covers professionals who identify and analyze organizational problems and recommend solutions. The key is that your role must involve providing independent expert advice to clients or internal leadership, not general project coordination. Your employer's TN support letter must describe your duties in those terms for CBP to approve the classification.
How does TN compare to H-1B for Strategy Consultant roles?
TN is available year-round with no lottery, no annual cap for Canadians, and no USCIS petition required for Canadian citizens entering at the border. H-1B requires surviving an annual lottery with roughly 25 percent selection odds, then waiting up to six months for an October 1 start date. For a qualifying consulting role, TN gets you working months faster with significantly less process risk.
Where can I find Strategy Consultant jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Canadian and Mexican professionals seeking TN visa opportunities. It surfaces Strategy Consultant openings at employers with recent visa filings, which saves you from applying to roles where HR has never sponsored work visas before and may be unfamiliar with the TN process.
Can I switch Strategy Consultant employers while on TN status?
Yes, but you need a new TN authorization before starting with the new employer. Canadian citizens can re-enter at a U.S. port of entry with the new employer's support letter and receive TN status on the spot. Mexican citizens must schedule a new consulate appointment. You can't simply transfer your existing TN to a new employer the way H-1B portability works.
What documentation does my employer need to provide for a Strategy Consultant TN application?
Your employer must issue a detailed support letter that describes your specific consulting duties, confirms the position is temporary, states your intended length of employment, and confirms your professional capacity. A generic offer letter won't satisfy CBP. The letter should explicitly connect your role to the Management Consultant category and reference your qualifying degree or professional credentials in the same field.
