Frame your role as management consulting
TN visas don't have a dedicated supply chain category. Map your duties to the Management Consultant classification by documenting that your work is analytical and advisory, not operational line management. Your offer letter language matters here.
Request a duties letter from your employer
Ask your prospective employer for a detailed support letter before your port-of-entry or consulate appointment. It should describe your specific analytical responsibilities, your degree relevance, and the temporary nature of your engagement to satisfy CBP requirements.
Target companies with active cross-border supply chains
Manufacturers, automotive firms, and retailers operating across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico already understand USMCA and are more likely to navigate TN sponsorship without hesitation. Prioritize roles where your binational expertise is a direct operational asset.
Verify your degree field matches the role
CBP expects a degree in industrial engineering, business, logistics, or a closely related field. A degree in an unrelated discipline, even with strong work experience, can result in a TN denial at the border. Confirm alignment before you apply.
Use Migrate Mate to find TN-eligible employers
Search Migrate Mate to identify Supply Chain Manager openings at employers with recent visa filings who have experience sponsoring work visas. Filtering by employer sponsorship experience upfront helps you focus on companies likely to support your TN application, whether through a support letter at the port of entry (for Canadian citizens) or at a U.S. consulate (for Mexican citizens).
Prepare for same-day Canadian border processing
If you hold Canadian citizenship, you can present your offer letter, credentials, and TN application directly at a U.S. port of entry without scheduling a consular appointment in advance. Bring originals of all documents, not just photocopies.
Supply Chain Manager TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Supply Chain Manager job title qualify for a TN visa?
There is no standalone Supply Chain Manager category in the TN visa occupation list. Most Supply Chain Managers qualify under the Management Consultant classification, provided their duties are primarily analytical and advisory rather than direct operational management. Your employer's support letter must clearly articulate that framing to satisfy CBP or the consulate.
How does the TN visa compare to the H-1B for Supply Chain Manager roles?
The TN visa has no annual lottery, no cap for Canadian citizens, and Canadians can receive approval at the port of entry on the same day they apply. H-1B requires lottery selection, a months-long petition process, and premium processing fees for faster adjudication. For Canadian and Mexican supply chain professionals with a qualifying offer, TN is typically the faster path to starting work.
Where can I find Supply Chain Manager jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you search specifically for Supply Chain Manager roles where employers have confirmed TN visa sponsorship. That saves you from applying broadly and discovering weeks into the process that a company won't support your status. Filtering by visa type at the start keeps your search focused on employers already prepared to sponsor.
Can Mexican citizens get TN sponsorship for Supply Chain Manager roles?
Yes, but the process differs from Canadian citizens. Mexican nationals must apply at a U.S. consulate in Mexico rather than at a port of entry, and USMCA sets a 5,500 annual allocation for Mexican TN holders. As long as that cap has not been reached for the fiscal year, Mexican supply chain professionals can pursue TN status through consular processing with a qualifying offer and credentials.
What documents does my employer need to provide for TN sponsorship?
Your employer must provide a detailed support letter on company letterhead. It should describe your specific job duties in analytical and advisory terms, confirm your compensation and employment period, state the position is temporary, and explain how your degree relates to the supply chain role. Without a precisely worded letter, CBP or the consulate may question whether your duties satisfy the Management Consultant classification.
