Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as an Underwriting Analyst
Align your degree to the economist category
TN classification for underwriting analysts depends on fitting the economist USMCA category. Your transcript must show a degree in economics, finance, business, or actuarial science. A degree in a loosely related field weakens the case, so pull your credential documentation before applying.
Target insurers experienced with visa sponsorship
Carriers, reinsurers, and specialty insurance firms with recent visa filings demonstrate experience navigating work visa sponsorship. Focus your search on employers in commercial lines, surety, or mortgage underwriting who have sponsored work visas before, as they're more likely to support your TN application through a support letter and port-of-entry presentation.
Verify your role description matches TN criteria
Ask the hiring manager to confirm the offer letter describes your duties as economic analysis, risk assessment, and financial modeling. Vague titles like 'analyst' without role-specific language give CBP officers a reason to ask questions at the port of entry.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsoring employers
Search for Underwriting Analyst roles filtered by TN visa sponsorship on Migrate Mate. The platform surfaces employers who have actively sponsored TN professionals, cutting the time you'd otherwise spend screening job listings manually for sponsorship eligibility.
Prepare a complete TN support package before your offer
Canadians can be admitted at the border the same day, but CBP officers expect a support letter, your degree credential, and the job offer ready at inspection. Assemble these documents before you receive a final offer so you're not rushing after acceptance.
Understand Mexican nationals must file through a consulate
If you hold Mexican citizenship, your employer submits the TN petition to USCIS before you can proceed. Factor consulate appointment wait times into your start date negotiation so your employer's offer timeline is realistic given consular processing.

Find Underwriting Analyst JobsUnderwriting Analyst TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Underwriting Analyst role qualify for TN visa status?
Yes, provided your duties center on financial risk analysis, economic modeling, or actuarial assessment and your degree is in economics, finance, business, or a closely related field. CBP evaluates both the job offer letter and your academic credentials at entry, so both need to align clearly with the economist USMCA category.
How does the TN visa compare to H-1B for Underwriting Analyst positions?
TN has no lottery and no annual cap for Canadians, so you can start employment as soon as CBP approves your border application. H-1B requires winning a random lottery that opens once per year, meaning a 12-month or longer wait. For underwriting roles that cleanly fit the economist category, TN is a faster and more predictable path.
Where can I find Underwriting Analyst jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for USMCA professionals and lets you filter Underwriting Analyst roles by TN visa sponsorship. This is more efficient than filtering general job boards where sponsorship details are inconsistently listed or absent. Start your search there to focus only on employers prepared to support TN applicants.
What documents does my employer need to provide for my TN application?
Your employer must provide a signed support letter on company letterhead that states your job title, a description of duties consistent with the economist category, your anticipated start date, and confirmation that the position is a temporary professional engagement. Mexican nationals also need their employer to file a petition with USCIS before a consulate appointment can be scheduled.
Can I switch employers as an Underwriting Analyst on a TN visa?
Yes, but you cannot start work with the new employer until TN status is approved for that specific role and company. Canadians can apply at a port of entry the same day a new offer is finalized. Mexican nationals must file a new petition through USCIS before beginning employment. There is no grace period that allows work in between approvals.
