Travel Consultant Jobs in Hawaii: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a travel consultant in Hawaii?
Hawaii does not require a state-issued license to work as a travel consultant, but employers consistently prefer candidates who hold a Certified Travel Associate or Certified Travel Counselor designation from The Travel Institute. Most candidates combine an associate or bachelor's degree in travel, tourism, or hospitality with hands-on experience booking Pacific and inter-island itineraries. Familiarity with Hawaii's resort partners and local tour operators strengthens any application significantly.
Which companies hire travel consultants in Hawaii?
Hawaii travel consultant roles are posted by Voyage Health, American Traveler, and Healthforce and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hawaii's tourism-driven economy means that resorts, destination management companies, and full-service travel agencies tied to the islands are among the most consistent sources of openings.
Which Hawaii cities have the most travel consultant jobs?
Hilo, Honolulu, and Kealakekua have the most travel consultant openings in Hawaii. Honolulu dominates because it is the state's commercial and tourism hub, home to major agency headquarters and international gateway traffic, while Maui and Kauai generate openings through resort-based travel desks and destination management companies serving their large visitor populations.
Are there remote travel consultant jobs in Hawaii?
Yes, and more than many client-facing roles, since a large share of travel consulting work involves phone, email, and booking platforms rather than in-person service. About 0% of travel consultant openings tied to Hawaii are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the flexibility travel agencies have built into their operations. Roles focused on leisure bookings, corporate travel management, and luxury itinerary planning are the most likely to offer remote or hybrid arrangements.
How can I get hired as a travel consultant in Hawaii with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a reservations agent or travel coordinator role at one of Hawaii's established agencies or resort travel desks, where on-the-job training covers booking systems and destination knowledge. Panda Travel and similar Hawaii-based agencies have historically brought in candidates from adjacent hospitality or customer service roles at hotels and airlines. Earning a Certified Travel Associate credential from The Travel Institute signals commitment and gives a candidate a concrete edge over others without formal experience.
Where can I find and apply to travel consultant jobs in Hawaii?
You can find and apply to travel consultant jobs in Hawaii on Migrate Mate, which lists current Hawaii openings across agencies, resorts, and destination management companies. Search the listings, find the roles that match your experience and preferred location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
