Job Description
Are you a story-teller? Do you have a thorough understanding of the Hawaii and Pacific Rim A/E/C marketplace? Are you able to leverage your network to build and join winning teams? Then we want to hear from you!
Coffman Engineers is looking for the right individual to join our Honolulu office in the role of Marketing Manager. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for building relationships and writing proposals to join our team. The right candidate will focus on crafting winning proposals while supporting the office’s local and Pacific Rim marketing and business development strategy.
Marketing Manager duties:
- Work hand-in-hand with marketing gurus, engineers, various departments, and subconsultants to gather intel, assess prospective clients’ needs, and evaluate the competitive environment.
- Leverage your client network to serve as “matchmaker” by getting Coffman in the door with the right types of clients and positioning us on the best teams to pursue projects that are the right fit.
- Develop and implement proactive, strategic plans to target specific clients, market sectors, and geographic regions throughout Hawaii and the Asia-Pacific.
- Write a plain-English proposal with technically complex concepts that non-technical readers can understand. Each proposal is custom-written – it could be a single page or 30 pages. It could be in response to a government request for proposal or an architect’s request for qualifications. Every situation is different.
- Assist with internal and external messaging through press releases and award preparation.
- Support a variety of local and corporate marketing and BD initiatives.
- Assume the title of master juggler. You will be the detail-focused, schedule-driven, multiple-hat-wearing, punctuation-enforcing, relationship-building marketing manager. You will have an eye for graphic design, a brain for strategic thinking, a passion for collaboration, and a passion for learning new concepts.
You don’t need to have a Ph.D. in technical writing or engineering for the position, but you should have practical, working knowledge of the processes involved in pursuing work through relationships and persuasive writing. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required.
Qualifications
- A positive, can-do attitude and the desire to be part of a team.
- A client-focused ability to communicate effectively, provide a high level of attention to detail, and handle simultaneous deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal skills.
- The ability to maintain flexibility within a large scope of responsibilities.
- The ability to take direction and work independently while staying highly organized.
- Proficiency with MS Office 365 programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, OneNote, and PowerPoint) and Adobe CC (InDesign, Photoshop, and Acrobat).
This is a job that requires use of both the left and right sides of your brain. Few people can do it well. For the right person, it’s a great job. Your application is your best opportunity to demonstrate the skills we’re looking for.
When you apply, please provide:
- A single-page cover letter that briefly details your experience and describes what drives you personally.
- A resume that includes your professional experience, achievements, and organizational involvement.
- Work samples. Proposals…press releases…strategic plans…we’d love to see them!
Please combine all files into one document to upload with your online application. We look forward to learning more about you!
Expected annual salary of $95,000 - $130,000.
This position is not eligible for sponsorship.

Marketing Associate Jobs in Hawaii: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a marketing associate in Hawaii?
Most marketing associate roles in Hawaii require a bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field, and no state-issued license applies to the role. Employers in Hawaii's hospitality and healthcare sectors often prioritize candidates with hands-on experience in digital marketing or content production. Building a portfolio of campaign work, completing Google or Meta certifications, and gaining familiarity with Hawaii's tourism-driven market significantly strengthens a candidate's application.
Which companies hire marketing associates in Hawaii?
Employers hiring marketing associates in Hawaii right now include Hilton Grand Vacations, Marriott Vacations Worldwide, and Travel + Leisure, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hawaii's major hotel groups, healthcare networks, and retail operators are among the most consistent sources of marketing associate openings on the islands.
Which Hawaii cities have the most marketing associate jobs?
Honolulu, Waikoloa, and Lahaina have the most marketing associate openings in Hawaii. Honolulu dominates because it is home to the state's largest concentration of corporate headquarters, hotel brand offices, and healthcare systems, while Maui and Hilo generate openings through resort operators, regional retailers, and community health organizations that maintain in-house marketing teams.
Are there remote marketing associate jobs in Hawaii?
Yes, and more than many fields, since marketing associate work is largely digital and desk-based. About 40% of marketing associate openings tied to Hawaii are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how much of the role centers on content creation, analytics, and campaign management. Roles focused on brand strategy, SEO, and social media are the most commonly offered in remote or hybrid formats.
How can I get hired as a marketing associate in Hawaii with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for coordinator or marketing assistant roles at Hawaii's large hospitality employers, such as hotel groups and visitor industry associations, which regularly hire early-career candidates and provide on-the-job training. Internship programs at organizations like the Hawaii Tourism Authority or campus-linked positions at the University of Hawaii system give new graduates a direct foothold. Building a portfolio through freelance social media work or student campaigns and earning a Google Analytics or Meta Blueprint certification gives candidates a clear edge over applicants without credentials.
Where can I find and apply to marketing associate jobs in Hawaii?
You can find and apply to marketing associate jobs in Hawaii on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the islands. Search the roles available, find the ones that match your background and preferred location, and apply directly through each listing.
