Acquisition Specialist Jobs in Hawaii: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a acquisition specialist in Hawaii?
Most acquisition specialist roles in Hawaii require a bachelor's degree in business, public administration, or supply chain management, followed by either a Federal Acquisition Certification in Contracting (FAC-C) for federal agency work or completion of Hawaii's own procurement training program administered through the State Procurement Office. Candidates pursuing state government roles should familiarize themselves with Hawaii Revised Statutes Chapter 103D, which governs public procurement in the state.
Which companies hire acquisition specialists in Hawaii?
Companies currently hiring acquisition specialists in Hawaii include Hilton Grand Vacations, Steve's Plumbing & AC Service, and Diagnostic Laboratory Services, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hawaii's large defense and federal contracting presence means many of these employers are tied to military installations on Oahu.
Which Hawaii cities have the most acquisition specialist jobs?
The cities with the most acquisition specialist openings in Hawaii are ‘Aiea, Kīhei, and Honolulu. This distribution reflects Honolulu's concentration of federal agencies, defense contractors, and state government offices, which generate the bulk of procurement and contracting work across the islands.
Are there remote acquisition specialist jobs in Hawaii?
Yes, and more than many government-adjacent roles, because contract review, solicitation writing, and vendor management are largely desk-based tasks. About 100% of acquisition specialist openings tied to Hawaii are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, though federal positions with security clearance requirements are more likely to require on-site work at cleared facilities.
How can I get hired as a acquisition specialist in Hawaii with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a Pathways Internship or Recent Graduates appointment through a federal agency on Oahu, such as the Defense Logistics Agency at Pearl Harbor or the Department of the Navy. The State of Hawaii also posts entry-level procurement technician roles that feed into acquisition specialist tracks. A background in contract administration, budget analysis, or purchasing coordinator work at large Hawaii employers such as The Queen's Health Systems or Hawaiian Electric provides strong lateral experience, and completing the FAC-C Level I coursework before applying gives candidates a concrete credential advantage.
Where can I find and apply to acquisition specialist jobs in Hawaii?
You can find and apply to acquisition specialist jobs in Hawaii on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly from the listings.
