Acquisition Specialist Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a acquisition specialist in Texas?
Most acquisition specialist roles in Texas require a bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, finance, or public administration. For government and defense roles, familiarity with the Federal Acquisition Regulation and Texas Procurement and Contract Management Guide is essential. Certifications such as the Certified Public Procurement Officer credential offered through the Texas Comptroller's recognized pathways or the NCMA's CFCM designation strengthen candidacy significantly. Many state agency positions also require registration through the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts vendor portal.
Which companies hire acquisition specialists in Texas?
Employers hiring acquisition specialists in Texas right now include State Farm, Integrated Power Services, and Kestra Financial, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of defense contractors, federal agency regional offices, and large state government bodies makes it one of the most consistent markets in the country for this role.
Which Texas cities have the most acquisition specialist jobs?
Houston, Austin, and Dallas have the most acquisition specialist openings in Texas. Dallas-Fort Worth draws volume from corporate headquarters and state agency offices, San Antonio is driven by its dense cluster of military installations and defense contractors, and Houston's energy sector and port authority generate steady demand for supply chain and procurement professionals.
Are there remote acquisition specialist jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than many comparable roles, since much of the work involves contract review, vendor communication, and data analysis that can be done off-site. About 22% of acquisition specialist openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the desk-based nature of the work. Contract administration and procurement analysis functions are the sub-areas most commonly offered with remote or hybrid flexibility.
How can I get hired as a acquisition specialist in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a purchasing assistant or contract administrator role at a Texas state agency or large defense employer, where structured onboarding exists for candidates without deep procurement backgrounds. The Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts and Health and Human Services Commission regularly post entry-level procurement roles that accept recent graduates. Completing a Certified Public Purchasing Buyer course or earning an entry-level NCMA certification while in school gives candidates a concrete edge, and lateral moves from roles like logistics coordinator or supply chain analyst at employers such as USAA or Lockheed Martin are a proven route in.
Where can I find and apply to acquisition specialist jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to acquisition specialist jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across defense, government, real estate, and corporate sectors. Find roles that fit your experience and apply directly to each one.
