Acquisition Specialist Jobs in Houston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a acquisition specialist job in Houston?
Focus your search on Houston's energy corridor, Texas Medical Center, and defense contractors clustered around Clear Lake and the Port of Houston, where acquisition roles concentrate. Experience in procurement, contract negotiation, or supply chain gives you a clear edge locally. Tailoring your resume to the sector you're targeting, whether oil and gas, healthcare, or government contracting, makes a meaningful difference in this market.
Which companies hire acquisition specialists in Houston?
Houston acquisition specialist roles are posted by Goodwill Industries of Houston, AutoNation, and Spring Independent School District and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Houston's mix of energy majors, defense primes, large hospital systems, and commercial real estate firms means acquisition roles appear across a wide range of employer sizes and sectors.
Are there remote acquisition specialist jobs in Houston?
Yes, though availability depends heavily on the role type, with analytical and sourcing-focused positions more likely to be remote than hands-on procurement or site-based acquisition work. About 32% of acquisition specialist openings tied to Houston are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with hybrid arrangements most common among corporate real estate and defense contracting employers headquartered in the metro.
How can I get a acquisition specialist job in Houston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Houston is through procurement coordinator or contracts administrator roles at energy companies, hospital systems, or government contractors, all of which hire entry-level candidates and promote from within. Organizations like Houston ISD, Harris County, and mid-size oilfield services firms regularly post junior acquisition positions. A background in business administration, supply chain coursework, or a stint in purchasing support makes you a competitive applicant for these roles.
