Acquisition Specialist Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a acquisition specialist in New York?
Most acquisition specialist roles in New York require a bachelor's degree in business, public administration, supply chain, or a closely related field. No state-issued license is required for the role, but candidates pursuing government contracting positions benefit from earning certifications such as the Certified Federal Contracts Manager through the National Contract Management Association. New York City and Albany agencies often post entry requirements directly on their civil service job portals.
Which companies hire acquisition specialists in New York?
Employers hiring acquisition specialists in New York right now include State Farm, AMS, and ICL, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. New York's concentration of federal agencies, defense contractors, and large municipal government offices makes it one of the most active states for procurement and acquisition hiring.
Which New York cities have the most acquisition specialist jobs?
The cities with the most acquisition specialist openings in New York are New York, Rochester, and Brooklyn. New York City dominates due to its density of federal agency offices, major corporations, and real estate firms, while Albany's role as the state capital generates steady demand from state government procurement teams, and secondary markets like Buffalo reflect regional defense and infrastructure contracting activity.
Are there remote acquisition specialist jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than many field-based roles, since much of the work involves contract analysis, vendor communication, and documentation that can be done offsite. About 75% of acquisition specialist openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the desk-based nature of the role. Contract review and procurement analysis positions are the most likely to offer remote or hybrid arrangements.
How can I get hired as a acquisition specialist in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for procurement analyst or contract administration assistant roles at New York City or New York State agencies, which regularly post civil service positions open to candidates without extensive experience. The New York City Department of Citywide Administrative Services and the Office of General Services in Albany run structured onboarding for new procurement staff. Earning a Certified Federal Contracts Manager credential or completing a supply chain internship at a New York defense contractor strengthens early applications considerably.
Where can I find and apply to acquisition specialist jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to acquisition specialist jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers across the state. Search the available roles, identify the ones that match your background and preferences, and apply directly to the positions that fit.
