Most vp business development roles in New York require a bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field, and many employers in financial services or consulting prefer an MBA from a program with strong New York market ties. There is no state-issued license specific to this role, but progression typically runs through account executive, director of business development, or senior sales leadership positions at New York-based firms before reaching the VP level.
How much do VP business developments make in New York?
VP business developments in New York earn a median of about $217,640 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $107,670 for the lowest 10% to over $378,910 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire vp business developments in New York?
Employers hiring vp business developments in New York right now include Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, and New York Life, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's concentration of financial institutions, global media companies, and enterprise technology firms makes it one of the most consistent markets for senior business development hiring in the country.
Which New York cities have the most vp business development jobs?
New York, Harrison, and Bronx have the most vp business development openings in New York. New York City dominates because of its unmatched density of corporate headquarters, investment firms, and enterprise technology companies, while White Plains and Buffalo draw demand from regional financial services firms and manufacturing-sector companies pursuing growth leadership at the senior level.
Are there remote vp business development jobs in New York?
Yes, and they are more common than in many senior roles, since business development work is relationship-driven rather than tied to a fixed physical location. About 29% of vp business development openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting flexibility at the executive level. Strategic planning, partner negotiations, and pipeline management are the functions most frequently performed remotely.
How can I get hired as a vp business development in New York with little or no experience?

Large New York employers such as enterprise SaaS companies and investment banks regularly hire into rotational or associate leadership programs that develop commercial skills. A strong MBA from a New York-area program, combined with demonstrated deal-closing in an adjacent sales or strategy role, significantly improves candidacy at the VP level.
