The American College of Physicians (ACP) is looking for a Vice President, Data Operations and e-Business to join the Technology leadership team. ACP, a national organization of internal medicine physicians with headquarters in Philadelphia, is the largest medical specialty organization and the second-largest physician group in the United States. This is a full-time hybrid position with 2 days in-office (Philadelphia HQ) per week required.
Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), the Vice President sets and oversees the ongoing implementation of the organizational data strategy, data system infrastructure, and e-business operations. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Playing a lead role in setting strategic direction, identifying and prioritizing key data infrastructure and e-business opportunities and establishing and leading implementation and ongoing management.
- Leading ongoing efforts to secure e-business infrastructure and manage data governance. Working closely with the Director, Technical Operations, to plan and prioritize continual evolution of cybersecurity and business continuation programs.
- Collaborating with senior leadership across the College to ensure that prioritized organizational challenges are addressed with appropriately designed, cost-effective, data-driven solutions.
- Overseeing the Member and Product Support (MaPS) team, working closely with the department’s Director to build and continually enhance workflows for optimal member and customer experience.
- Directly managing key/high-impact data and e-commerce projects, working closely with other divisional project management staff to employ iterative/agile processes.
- Acting as an authorized member of the Technology Solutions Governance Team, assessing and approving the acquisition, development, installation, training and on-going support for data platforms, data products and services, and business application software, hardware, and related technical services deployed by the College.
- Responsible for all aspects of departmental operations, including staffing, team building and development, professional development, training, performance, and budget management.
- Responsible for the development and monitoring of departmental policies, processes, standards, guidelines, audits, contracts, workflows, and quality assurance protocols.
Qualifications
- College degree required, preferably in a related field (computer science, engineering, etc.).
- Requires deep technical knowledge of modern data architectures and platforms, business applications, cloud architectures, semantic modeling, and data governance, security, and privacy regulatory environments, as well as a broad range of data-centric software engineering and deployment methodologies and concepts, including DataOps, data engineering and integration models, data warehousing and lakehouse platforms, and AI-integrated architecture.
- Requires strong experience with PaaS providers in e-business/e-commerce and data platforms, with emphasis on Association Management Systems (AMS) and related platforms.
- Strong project management skills, experience in agile project methodologies, and knowledge of key business systems and supporting technology infrastructure.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential to communicate complex technical information to all levels of College staff, governance, and external entities.
- Related experience within a medical membership organization, including Customer Service operations, membership cycles and dues processing, as well as individual and institutional relationship modeling. (Highly Preferred).
