Account Executive Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become an account executive in New York?
Most account executive roles in New York require a bachelor's degree, typically in business, marketing, or communications. No state-issued license is required for the general role, though account executives selling financial products or insurance may need a New York State Department of Financial Services license. Most candidates start in sales development or inside sales at a New York employer, build a verifiable quota record, and advance into a full account executive position from there.
Which companies hire account executives in New York?
Employers hiring account executives in New York right now include AbbVie, HUB International, and Hibu, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. New York's density of advertising agencies, enterprise technology firms, and financial institutions means demand is consistent across a wide range of company sizes and industries.
Which New York cities have the most account executive jobs?
New York, Albany, and Rochester have the most account executive openings in New York. New York City dominates because it is home to the headquarters of major media conglomerates, financial services firms, and enterprise software companies, while smaller metros like White Plains and Melville draw openings from regional corporate offices and insurance carriers with large New York footprints.
Are there remote account executive jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than most fields, since account executive work is relationship-driven and often conducted by phone, video, and email rather than on a fixed site. About 82% of account executive openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of September 2026. Roles focused on digital advertising, SaaS, and national enterprise accounts tend to be the most remote-friendly, while roles tied to local market relationships or financial services often require regular in-person client contact.
How can I get hired as an account executive in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a sales development representative or business development representative role at a New York-based technology, media, or financial services company, which provides structured sales training and a clear promotion track. Large New York employers including enterprise software firms and advertising agencies run associate or rotational programs for recent graduates. Candidates who earn a Salesforce Administrator certification or complete a recognized sales training program gain a measurable edge when competing for junior account executive openings.
