Account Executive Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a account executive in California?
Most account executive roles in California require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or communications, though some technology and SaaS employers hire candidates with equivalent demonstrated sales experience. California does not require a state-issued license to work as an account executive. The typical path starts with an inside sales or business development representative role at a California technology, media, or financial services company, then advances to a full account executive position after consistent quota performance.
Which companies hire account executives in California?
Employers hiring account executives in California right now include AbbVie, Spectrum, and Block, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. California's concentration of enterprise technology headquarters and major media and financial services firms means account executive hiring here tends to be high-volume and ongoing compared to most other states.
Which California cities have the most account executive jobs?
San Francisco, Los Angeles, and California have the most account executive openings in California. San Francisco and the broader Bay Area lead because of the dense concentration of enterprise software and SaaS headquarters, Los Angeles follows as the center of media, entertainment technology, and digital advertising sales, and San Diego draws significant volume from its life sciences, defense technology, and cybersecurity employers.
Are there remote account executive jobs in California?
Yes, and more than most fields, since account executive work is fundamentally relationship- and communication-driven rather than on-site or hands-on. About 79% of account executive openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how broadly California technology and SaaS employers have adopted distributed sales teams. Fully remote roles tend to concentrate in SaaS, digital media, and cloud services verticals.
How can I get hired as a account executive in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a business development representative or inside sales role at a California technology or SaaS company, where structured sales training programs are common at employers like Salesforce, Workday, and ServiceNow, all of which run new-hire sales onboarding cohorts. Candidates can also move laterally from customer success, account management, or marketing roles. Building familiarity with CRM platforms and earning a recognized sales certification strengthens applications when direct quota-carrying experience is limited.
Where can I find and apply to account executive jobs in California?
You can find and apply to account executive jobs in California on Migrate Mate, which lists current California openings across technology, media, financial services, life sciences, and more. Find a role that fits and apply directly to the employer through the listing.
