Regional Account Manager Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a regional account manager in California?
Most regional account manager roles in California require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, or a closely related field, followed by several years in inside sales, account executive, or business development positions. California does not require a state-issued license for general account management, but roles in life sciences or financial services may require industry-specific certifications such as FINRA licensing or medical device sales training recognized by California employers.
How much do regional account managers make in California?
Regional account managers in California earn a median of about $134,910 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $64,430 for the lowest 10% to over $300,580 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire regional account managers in California?
Employers hiring regional account managers in California right now include Apple, IPEVO, and Vectra AI, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. California's concentration of Fortune 500 technology headquarters, biotechnology firms, and large healthcare systems makes it one of the most consistent states for ongoing regional account manager openings.
Which California cities have the most regional account manager jobs?
Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Cupertino have the most regional account manager openings in California. Los Angeles and San Francisco dominate because of their density of enterprise technology, media, and life sciences employers, while San Diego's robust biotech and defense sector anchors consistent demand in the southern part of the state.
Are there remote regional account manager jobs in California?
Yes, and more than most fields, given that account management is largely relationship-driven and can often be conducted through video, phone, and digital tools. About 29% of regional account manager openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, though field-based travel within the territory is typically still required. Client-facing and renewals-focused roles tend to offer the most flexibility.
How can I get hired as a regional account manager in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through an inside sales representative or sales development representative role at a California technology or SaaS company, where structured onboarding and mentorship programs at employers like Salesforce and Workday develop candidates for territory promotion. Building proficiency in Salesforce CRM, completing a relevant certification such as Salesforce Sales Cloud, and targeting associate account manager postings at mid-sized Bay Area or Los Angeles-based software firms gives candidates without direct regional experience a concrete competitive edge.
Where can I find and apply to regional account manager jobs in California?
You can find and apply to regional account manager jobs in California on Migrate Mate, which lists current California openings across technology, life sciences, financial services, and other sectors. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly to the employers posting them.
