How do you become a regional account manager in Illinois?
Most Illinois employers require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field, combined with prior sales or account management experience. Illinois does not issue a state license specific to regional account managers, so entry depends on building a record of quota attainment and client retention. Candidates who earn recognized credentials such as a Certified Professional Sales Person designation or industry-specific certifications in technology or healthcare consistently stand out in Illinois hiring processes.
How much do regional account managers make in Illinois?
Regional account managers in Illinois earn a median of about $155,280 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $78,760 for the lowest 10% to over $282,890 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire regional account managers in Illinois?
Employers hiring regional account managers in Illinois right now include Walgreens, Load One, and IFS, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Illinois's deep concentration of corporate headquarters and distribution hubs in the Chicago metro means large enterprises across manufacturing, technology, and healthcare services maintain ongoing regional sales teams throughout the state.
Which Illinois cities have the most regional account manager jobs?
Chicago, Deerfield, and Itasca have the most regional account manager openings in Illinois. Chicago drives volume through its density of corporate headquarters and enterprise clients, while Naperville and Rosemont attract significant hiring because major technology firms, logistics companies, and national distributors like CDW and Grainger base Midwest operations in those suburban corridors.
Are there remote regional account manager jobs in Illinois?
Yes, and more than many field-based roles, since account management increasingly involves video calls, digital presentations, and CRM-driven outreach. About 71% of regional account manager openings tied to Illinois are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how broadly technology and healthcare employers have adopted flexible arrangements. The prospecting, reporting, and account strategy portions of the role translate most readily to remote work, while client entertainment and on-site visits typically remain in person.
How can I get hired as a regional account manager in Illinois with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting in a sales development representative or inside sales role with a major Illinois employer, then moving into territory or account management once you have a quota record. Companies like Grainger, Zebra Technologies, and CDW run structured early-career sales programs out of their Illinois offices that are designed for candidates without direct account management experience. Building proficiency in Salesforce and earning an industry-relevant certification strengthens an application considerably at this stage.
