Enterprise Sales Representative Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a enterprise sales representative in California?
There is no state-issued license required to work as an enterprise sales representative in California. Most employers hire candidates with a bachelor's degree in business, communications, marketing, or a technical field, along with a measurable history of quota attainment in B2B or technology sales. California employers often prioritize candidates who can demonstrate experience selling into specific verticals such as enterprise software, healthcare technology, or financial services over general credentials.
How much do enterprise sales representatives make in California?
Enterprise sales representatives in California earn a median of about $76,490 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $43,200 for the lowest 10% to over $152,760 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire enterprise sales representatives in California?
Employers hiring enterprise sales representatives in California right now include Google, Sunrun, and First American, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. California's deep concentration of technology headquarters and major financial services firms means the market for enterprise sales talent stays consistently active across multiple industries year-round.
Which California cities have the most enterprise sales representative jobs?
San Francisco, Sunnyvale, and California have the most enterprise sales representative openings in California. San Francisco and San Jose are driven by the density of enterprise software and cloud infrastructure companies headquartered in the Bay Area, while Los Angeles draws demand from media technology, healthcare, and financial services enterprises that maintain large West Coast operations there.
Are there remote enterprise sales representative jobs in California?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 4% of enterprise sales representative openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how much of the role centers on virtual discovery calls, digital demos, and video-based executive presentations. The portions most commonly done in person are large account kick-offs and contract close meetings with senior stakeholders.
How can I get hired as a enterprise sales representative in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a business development representative or sales development representative role at a California-based technology company, where you build pipeline skills before moving into a quota-carrying position. Companies like Salesforce, Workday, and Palo Alto Networks run structured sales associate or rotational programs out of their California offices that place candidates into enterprise sales tracks. A Salesforce Administrator credential or a relevant technical certification gives candidates without a sales history a concrete edge.
