Role Overview
The Content Marketing Manager will develop content that advances Harvey's brand and business goals across editorial, campaigns, and social. This person will turn company priorities, customer insights, and market opportunities into high-quality content, then work across teams to distribute it effectively and measure its impact. This is a role for a strong writer and editor who is equally comfortable shaping strategy and producing the work itself, and who can translate complex legal, technical, and product ideas into clear, compelling stories.
What You'll Do
Contribute to Harvey's editorial strategy and help execute the content roadmap set by the Head of Content and Social Strategy.
Write and edit content across formats, including website articles, guides, reports, thought leadership, social series, video scripts, and campaign copy.
Turn complex legal, technical, and product ideas into clear, compelling stories for Harvey's audiences.
Develop content-led campaigns in partnership with product marketing, demand generation, communications, social, and other teams.
Create distribution strategies that extend the reach and value of each major content asset.
Write planned social copy and captions connected to editorial content, campaigns, launches, and brand initiatives.
Partner with the SEO lead to apply search insights to content planning, development, and optimization.
Use audience and performance data to understand what is working and improve future content.
Maintain a consistent, distinctive Harvey voice across channels and formats.
Partner with Content Operations and Publishing to move work efficiently through production, review, and publication.
What You Have
5+ years of experience in content marketing, editorial, or a closely related discipline, ideally in B2B technology, SaaS, or professional services.
Exceptional writing and editing skills, with a portfolio that demonstrates range across long-form editorial, thought leadership, campaign copy, and social.
A proven ability to translate complex or technical subject matter into clear, engaging narratives for sophisticated audiences.
Experience contributing to an editorial strategy and delivering against a content roadmap, taking ownership of high-quality output end to end.
Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, with a track record of partnering with product marketing, demand generation, communications, and social teams.
Familiarity with SEO fundamentals and comfort using search insights to shape content.
Fluency with content performance metrics and the judgment to turn data into better editorial decisions.
A sharp eye for brand voice and the discipline to maintain it consistently across channels and formats.

Content Marketing Specialist Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a content marketing specialist in California?
A bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, English, or journalism is the standard starting point for content marketing specialist roles in California. No state-issued license is required, but California employers consistently prioritize candidates with a demonstrable portfolio of published work, hands-on experience with SEO and analytics tools, and familiarity with California's technology and entertainment industries. Certifications from recognized marketing platforms strengthen applications, especially for roles at SaaS and media companies headquartered in the state.
How much do content marketing specialists make in California?
Content marketing specialists in California earn a median of about $94,700 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $48,440 for the lowest 10% to over $181,600 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire content marketing specialists in California?
Employers hiring content marketing specialists in California right now include Rippling, Google, and E2B, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. California's density of technology headquarters, streaming platforms, and direct-to-consumer brands means consistent demand across sectors well beyond traditional advertising agencies.
Which California cities have the most content marketing specialist jobs?
San Francisco, San Diego, and San Mateo have the most content marketing specialist openings in California. Los Angeles dominates because of its concentration of entertainment studios, media companies, and e-commerce brands, while San Francisco and San Jose are driven by the Bay Area's technology and SaaS sectors, where content teams support complex B2B marketing functions.
Are there remote content marketing specialist jobs in California?
Yes, and more than most fields. Content marketing is fundamentally a desk-based, digital role, making it well suited to remote and hybrid arrangements. About 64% of content marketing specialist openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how broadly California technology and media employers have adopted flexible work policies. Strategy, writing, and SEO work tends to be the most remote-friendly, while brand and campaign roles sometimes require on-site collaboration.
How can I get hired as a content marketing specialist in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is building a published portfolio through freelance work, a blog, or volunteer content for California nonprofits and startups, then applying to coordinator or associate content roles. Large California technology companies and media organizations regularly hire entry-level content associates who come from adjacent roles such as social media coordinator, copywriter, or marketing assistant. A certification in Google Analytics or HubSpot, combined with writing samples that reflect California's dominant industries, gives early-career candidates a concrete edge in competitive markets like Los Angeles and the Bay Area.
