Field Marketing Manager Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a field marketing manager in California?
Most field marketing manager roles in California require a bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field, and there is no state-issued license or certification required to work in this role. Employers in the Bay Area and Los Angeles typically look for candidates who have moved up from marketing coordinator or demand generation roles, built hands-on experience running regional programs, and earned credentials such as a Salesforce or HubSpot certification to strengthen their candidacy.
How much do field marketing managers make in California?
Field marketing managers in California earn a median of about $193,620 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $104,370 for the lowest 10% to over $326,400 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire field marketing managers in California?
Employers hiring field marketing managers in California right now include Intercom, Mintlify, and Aikido Security, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. California's concentration of enterprise technology, cybersecurity, and life sciences companies means field marketing roles here often focus on regional pipeline generation and partner-channel programs tied to major industry events and sales territories.
Which California cities have the most field marketing manager jobs?
San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Jose have the most field marketing manager openings in California. The Bay Area leads because of its dense concentration of enterprise software and cloud technology headquarters, while Los Angeles draws hiring from media, consumer brands, and health tech, and San Diego's biotech and defense sectors drive consistent demand for regional field marketing talent tied to those specific verticals.
Are there remote field marketing manager jobs in California?
Yes, but they are less common than fully on-site roles given that field marketing is inherently territory-based and tied to in-person events, trade shows, and sales meetings. About 45% of field marketing manager openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, with remote work most available for the planning, campaign management, and reporting portions of the role rather than the event execution side.
How can I get hired as a field marketing manager in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting as a marketing coordinator or field marketing associate at a California technology or enterprise software company, where you can build direct exposure to regional event planning and sales-aligned campaign execution. Large Bay Area and Southern California employers regularly bring on early-career candidates into marketing operations, event coordinator, or channel marketing associate roles that feed into field marketing management over time, and earning a recognized marketing automation certification such as HubSpot or Marketo gives applicants a measurable edge in a competitive California candidate pool.
Where can I find and apply to field marketing manager jobs in California?
You can find and apply to field marketing manager jobs in California on Migrate Mate, which lists current California openings from employers actively hiring in this role. Find roles that fit your experience and location and apply directly from each listing without needing to go elsewhere.
