Account Executive Jobs in North Carolina: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become an account executive in North Carolina?
Most account executive roles in North Carolina require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field, though some employers in technology and SaaS emphasize demonstrated sales performance over formal credentials. North Carolina does not require a state-issued license for most account executive roles. Candidates typically start in inside sales, business development representative, or SDR positions at companies in Charlotte's finance corridor or the Research Triangle's tech and life sciences sector before moving into full account executive roles.
Which companies hire account executives in North Carolina?
Employers hiring account executives in North Carolina right now include BD, Spectrum, and T-Mobile, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. North Carolina's concentration of financial services firms in Charlotte and technology and life sciences companies in the Raleigh-Durham area means steady, recurring demand from both enterprise and growth-stage employers.
Which North Carolina cities have the most account executive jobs?
Charlotte, Raleigh, and Durham are the North Carolina cities with the most account executive openings. Charlotte drives volume through its large base of banking, insurance, and fintech employers, while Raleigh and Durham benefit from the Research Triangle's dense cluster of technology, healthcare IT, and life sciences companies that rely heavily on account executives to grow enterprise and mid-market accounts.
Are there remote account executive jobs in North Carolina?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 81% of account executive openings tied to North Carolina are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how broadly the role has shifted to virtual selling across technology and financial services. SaaS and software account executive roles tend to offer the most flexibility, while positions requiring frequent on-site client engagement, such as healthcare or manufacturing accounts, lean more toward hybrid or field-based arrangements.
How can I get hired as an account executive in North Carolina with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a sales development representative or inside sales role at a technology or financial services company in Charlotte or the Raleigh-Durham area. Companies like Bandwidth, Pendo, and larger Charlotte-based financial institutions run structured sales development programs that move strong performers into account executive roles within one to two years. A Salesforce certification, a strong record in a customer-facing role such as retail banking or account coordination, or completion of a sales bootcamp offered through local community colleges can give candidates a clear edge.
Where can I find and apply to account executive jobs in North Carolina?
