Sales Account Executive Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales account executive in New York?
Most sales account executive roles in New York require a bachelor's degree, though the field has no state-issued license or exam. The typical path starts with an inside sales or business development representative role at a New York employer, where you build pipeline experience before moving into a full account executive seat. New York City's dense concentration of financial services, SaaS, and media companies means entry-level candidates often find their first footing in those sectors before specializing.
How much do sales account executives make in New York?
Sales account executives in New York earn a median of about $79,590 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $47,070 for the lowest 10% to over $156,400 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire sales account executives in New York?
Employers hiring sales account executives in New York right now include T-Mobile, Amazon, and Rippling, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's mix of global financial institutions, enterprise technology firms, and media companies means openings appear at a wide range of organization sizes, from large multinationals headquartered in Manhattan to fast-growing SaaS companies expanding their East Coast teams.
Which New York cities have the most sales account executive jobs?
The cities with the most sales account executive openings in New York are New York, New York, and Buffalo. New York City dominates the distribution because it is home to the headquarters and large regional offices of the financial services, enterprise software, and media companies that generate the highest volume of account executive hiring, while Buffalo and Albany reflect the presence of regional healthcare systems, insurance carriers, and technology firms that maintain substantial upstate sales teams.
Are there remote sales account executive jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 38% of sales account executive openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the desk-based, phone-and-video nature of the role. How can I get hired as a sales account executive in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a business development representative or inside sales role, which large New York employers such as enterprise technology firms and financial services companies use as structured pipelines into full account executive positions. Candidates without direct sales experience often move laterally from client success, account management, or marketing roles. A Salesforce certification or demonstrated familiarity with CRM tools gives candidates a measurable edge in New York City's competitive applicant pool, where hiring managers at SaaS and fintech companies screen for tool proficiency early.
